"Haiti has devolved into a lawless mess"

Automated transcript · uncorrectedWhat is today is Congressman Michael Walls from Florida and the sixth Congressional District and a former Green Beret, and he’s on the Intel Committee, Beyond Services Committee, and today he received a briefing on Haiti and what a mess we have on our hands. Congress from Michael Walls, can you give the American people a briefing of what is
going on in Haiti?
Well, it is completely devolved into a lawless mess. You have. About half a dozen gangs. I mean there’s more than that, but the major gangs that have divided up and carved up the capitol and that are heavily armed and are running the show. The Prime Minister resigned. Now there’s this kind of international council that’s trying to come together with
the gangs have said no, no, we’re in charge. And you’ve got millions of people who are are devolving into poverty. The fear is twofold. One do these gangs start turning on Americans, Westerners, even our own embassy. The military is prepared for that, is prepared to evacuate our embassy. By the way, this would be the fifth embassy under the
Biden administration that’s had to be evacuated. The bigger issue is if they start turning on all the Americans and Westerners that are there. You know, how we get thousands and thousands of people out and finally do we start seeing a mass boat migration that starts crashing onto Florida shores and turned Florida into you know, the the Florida
shoreline into the southern border. So that’s that’s the not so good news, John, that’s that’s going on right now.
Well, there’s ten million people and there’s been reports of uh, people leading people who’s there out of food? Have you heard? I have? I have?
I asked about that today. They were they said they’ve seen it as well. This is our Southern Military Command down in Miami. They couldn’t verify it. However, they can verify just how desperate the situation. I mean, if you have a collapse of society and literally lawless gang rule. Uh.
One of the leading gang, you know, his nickname is Barbecue, known for burning people alive. Uh.
These are some These are some bad ombrees and it’s it’s a it’s a horrible situation for these poor people. Meanwhile, on the other half of the island, if you look at the map is a Dominican republic, and you talk about building the wall. Uh they are uh, they’re desperate to not have this this migration flow flow into them
is either and just.
Stood yesterday, don’t want them at all. And I understand if you have to go over over the mountains to get there. And Dominicans are doing a good job protecting themselves. Anything else I want to tell the American people, Well, look.
You know the where we’re staging. All of our military assets are out of Guantanamo. And remember the Democrats been trying for years. Obama on day one of his presidency. Biden on day one of his presidency said, we got to shut down GIMO. I don’t know if they want to give it back to the Cubans or what, but
that’s where that’s kind of our base to one be able to patrol the waters and two be able to have the aircraft to get to get our people out if we have to do that. So, you know, once again another bad decision on their part. We this is why we have to have a strong and ready military
Number one and number two. Look again, this is now the fifth embassy. I believe there were seven under Obama that we had to run away from a country that we had to evacuate out of, compared to none under Trump.
This is what the world looks like when deterrence starts falling apart, when you don’t have peace through strength. But this time it’s right literally right on our doorstep.
Understood. Congressman Mike Wells, thank you for fighting for our country in the military. Thank you for being in Congress, and continue to fight for our country. And let’s catch up again real soon and I hope things get better.
Thank you so much, Yes, sir, thank you
