Speaker 1 What is today is doctor Peter Michelos on his usual Sunday discussion with us on how do we live longer? We well, doctor Michelos, what’s on the mainstream today.

Speaker 2 Well, one of the important things is we really have to try to stay healthy, and staying healthy requires also being vigilant about avoiding certain diseases. And today we’re going to talk about the resurgence of ancient diseases. You know, still in the world one point six million people die every year from tuberculosis. Fortunately in the United States for

many years it’s been very low. One of the problems is now where the air travel, and also sometimes people blame it on some of the migration patterns that are coming to the United States, so people are not vaccinated, no medical pre screening. But it also happens when people come legally through the airports of the US because it’s

no real way to screen fatigue be unless someone’s actively hacking and coughing, and you can get TB and it can be very deadly. Before antibiotics, it wiped out large portions of populations. But fortunately if it’s quarterly and you can get antibiotics, it will help. There are some resistance trains that are worrying people, and that’s why on WABC

recently we talked about new peptide antibiotics for the resistant strains. The other thing that happened recently is bubonic plague, which comes from infected fleas from rats. There are cases showed up in New Mexico. There was another case in Oregon in the United States. Now, if you think about it, this thing in the thirteen hundreds wiped out sixty percent

of Europe’s population. We’re talking fifty million people. This is not a joke. And it took it and bit it in like five years. So these things you have to have them in checked and thank god we have tree and sen antibotics. The other one is people are still very promiscuous. For a while, syphilis was down in the

United States. The last recorded statistics in twenty twenty two there were over two hundred thousand Americans with syphilis. And syphilis when it’s left untreated, can end up going to the brain, it can affect the eyes, the back of the eye, it can affect many different functions in the body.

So these things are real. The other common ones are measles mumps ubello, which were a big problem kids used to go death, some things like measles, and what happened was vaccines came out in nineteen sixty seven, and these are DNA viruses which seem to do very well with those vaccines, and we’ve kept it in check. But we’re

seeing many people who are anti vaxxers, who refuse vaccines for various reasons. But those school vaccines that really do need and they do work, and they have saved many painting people. The other one is scarlet fever and it’s basically a form strep which can affect your heart valves.

But the importance is early treatment. Don’t ignore symptoms, wealth stevers night sweats for any of these diseases. Infections basically cause inflammation in the body, but early treatment diagnosis is very important. But it’s just something to be aware of and for the young people out there to use proper protection when engaging in any type of sexual activity, because

we’re seeing gunnerrhea is also on the rise in the United States and people are more lax about things. But important thing is try to have at least an annual physical and if you’re a young person, and women, especially when they go from the guan exams and they get cultures and they can catch things like chlamydium, which can

be an infection that can go up into your tubes that allow you to reproduce and close scarring and prevent you from having children. So you want to catch these things early, get proper treatment, and keep listening to wa for more health tips. And if you really want to know if you have any infections in your body, the cheapest,

most effective way is become a blood donor. When you donate blood, guess what they do. They check you for every disease in the world. You request a copy of those diseases and that’s a free way to get a complete analysis of all your blood because you can’t be a blood donor if you have hepatitis or stepless in

your blood or other diseases.

Speaker 1 And yes, and then doctor Pittter, the other thing I do is take a blood tests every three four months. But what I think it’s important for people in the know, and not everybody can do this is take the blood test.

Make sure you get a copy of your blood tests and look at the numbers that look abnormal, and keep track of those numbers that look abnormal and try to find out the reason why. In other words, gee, you can go to the internet and say, why is my be twelve so high? What side effects does it have?

Isn’t that a smart thing to do.

Speaker 2 It’s a very smart thing to do. And it’s gone one step further. You can go online now. A fellow Nampior demanded starter company called mylifeforce dot com. They actually come to your house, they take the blood, you get about fifty biomarkers tested, and then they make recommendations on what you should be doing, and you don’t need to

go see in a doctor’s office. And I tell people without health insurance, if you want to know what’s going on your body, you can always go to my life Force and it’s stored in the computer and then you can do it again and keep track of it for people who don’t have health insurance. So people are under insurance,

and many insurances don’t even want to pay for simple tests like chemoglobin A one CE, as we both know. They don’t want to pay for mercury level or other heavy metals, which can also be a real phenomenon.

Speaker 1 As we both know, at least once a year, once a year, you should get a heavy metals thing, which is what lead in mercury. Yeah, especially because you know, you know what happened. I had a higher arsenic count because I was drinking this water and they had a lot of arsenic in it. And I stopped drinking the water.

The arsenic went away. And and if you eat the wrong fish, you’re going to have a high mercury count. But at least if you take the mercury test, then you’ll find out if if it’s too high.

Speaker 2 Absolutely you know what’s going on. And the mnemonica is l a m lead arsenic mercury. And also if it’s large fish that live a long time, they have more mercury, like swordfish because they accumulate more mercury, and fish that don’t live as long, like smaller fish, they tend to have much less, like anchovies have very little mercury in them.

Speaker 1 For example, I usually I insult some waiters when they say to me, oh, we have a special sword fish today. I say to him, I say to them, what are you trying to do?

Speaker 2 Yeah, I tell him, what do you want me to glow in the dark. Yeah, that’s why people have to list the WABC to get these health tips on staying healthy and preventing problems so that they can live long and prosper.

Speaker 1 Thank you so much, doctor Peter Mihelos, and we’ll catch up with you again real soon.

Speaker 2 Thanks for always getting the truth out on the Cats round Table.
