Speaker 1 With us today. Is Bernie Morano, a distinguished career in car dealerships, a businessman from Cleveland, and now he wants to run for the Senate of the United States because he feels our country needs help. Well, Bernie, welcome to New York. Thank you for having me. Tell us about your Korea first of all, then then we’ll talk about

why you want to run for the US Senate.

Speaker 2 Sure, So, I got to Cleveland about eighteen years ago, bought this tiny little dealership on the west side of Cleveland, solding four cars a month, losing lots of money, terrible customer satisfaction. And we were to take that little tiny dealership that I put every cent I had into buying I’m going to tell you John, every cent. I’m telling

you every cent, and turned into one of the largest dealer groups in the country. Did about a billion dollars in revenue, thousands of team members that weren’t there, took that dealership to new heights and customer service. So we really built a great business. Sold that started a technology company that I just sold about a month ago.

Speaker 1 Wow, and now you want to run for the United States Senate of Ohio.

Speaker 2 Tell us why, Well, we got politicians and DC that only think about one thing and one thing only, which is their next election. They’re not talking about how to solve the problems, the real problems that our country’s facing.

They think about their next election. They play the insider game. And I’m not just talking sadly about Democrats. It’s Democrats and Republicans. And so if we’re going to change that dynamic, we need to send different kinds of people to DC, people who’ve done something in their lives, who go to d C for public service.

Speaker 1 And then come home.

Speaker 2 And that’s what I intend to do.

Speaker 1 The people of Ohio, you know you live there. I don’t give us the things that the people in Ohio are really annoyed about or upset about, or do you wake up at three o’clock in the morning you worry about.

Speaker 2 Well, they’re the heart heartland, that’s what we call ourselves. This is Middle America. These are the people who are the first to raise their hands to go to war, to send their kids to war. These are the people that make and grow the things that happen here in America.

And they feel like they’re losing their country. They feel like the country that they know, the country that they love is being taken from them by dark forces, people who are reimagining America into something very different. They worry about inflation, being able to pay the bills. They worry about what’s going on our southern border.

Speaker 1 They feel our.

Speaker 2 Country is being invaded by people who we don’t know who they are, We don’t know their intentions, we don’t know where they’re going. They worry about Ukraine and US going into World War three. So these are the things that they really worry about.

Speaker 1 If you were elected to the United States Senate and you’ve got to de sendate floor, what’s the first thing you would yell about.

Speaker 2 We have to solve the problem at the border, John, We cannot allow people to come into our country illegally. That’s common sense, shouldn’t be controversial. I’m an immigrant. I was born in Columbia, South America. I came here as a kid, but I came here the legal way. I spent thirteen years to become a US citizen. It was

a highlight of my life. We need to restore the dignity of legal immigration.

Speaker 1 Well, i’m an immigrant too. I can’t run for president, but I came here six months old and I believe in immigration, but I think we should do it the old fashioned way. We should know who’s coming in, who’s not coming in. We need people that love America and the people that are coming because they want us to

help them want. We want immigrants that are going to help America.

Speaker 2 Absolutely, people who are going to add to America, not take from America. You know, the reality is, like you just said, I wasn’t born here. I can’t be president of United States either. That’s my superpower in DC. I’ll be the one Senator that doesn’t view themselves into White House.

So I’ll be there just to serve the people of Ohio and focus on getting real things solved understood.

Speaker 1 We got another minute or so left. What would you like to talk about? What would you like to tell are the people of America the people of Ohio.

Speaker 2 I think the days of not getting involved politically are over. I think John, you’ve been in this game for a while now, but others haven’t. There’s a lot of people who think, hey, I’m just going to focus on my business.

I’m going to focus on my family. I’m not a political person. Those days are gone. I think all of us have got to lean in. We’ve got to put the ore in the water. We got to work really hard, and we’re going to get this country back. All of us together have to fight for this country. And by

the way, there is no fight worthy more worthy than fighting for this country.

Speaker 1 Well, I thank you, Bernie moreno, good luck. The election is getting closer and closer.

Speaker 2 Well, my primary starts at eight months. Early voting starts in eight months. This is going to be the key race to control the United States Senate. Our website is Bernie marinomr e no dot com. People can go there and learn more about me, get involved in a raise, volunteer and invest.
