Speaker 1 Sunday morning. Well, it’s not Sunday morning without Governor Patterson. He always gives us some wisdom on a Sunday morning. Well, Governor, tell us, what do you think is going on in a city or state or country, and give us your wisdom.

Speaker 2 Well, everything was going on, you know, pretty normally, until Wednesday morning at six forty five, when mister Thompson, who is the head of the major insurance company, was shot as he was going into a hotel to a breakfast meeting.

And he was shot by a person who apparently waited out there for him and then snuck up behind him and shot him in the back. And then my understanding is that he then turned and looked at the person who walked past him and shot him again. And one of the things I noticed was on the internet. I

think I’m going to stay off the internet for a while, John, because some of these things drive me crazy. People were saying. One person said he was walking in the area around that time he didn’t see any police around. How could that be the case. This is a huge city. Eight and a half million people live here. You couldn’t count

the blocks that you would want the police to cover. And I think just to prove how really great they are. By the end of the day, they had found out that this gentleman had went and had a bagel at some place before he went there, and when he had the bagel, his mask was off. So it’s not a

full facial shot, but it’s like three quarters of one, which the police are now circulating to try to apprehend this criminal. They also found some notes on some of his the items that he left that sounded like a real way out, you know, government hating type person. But I think all in all, the police Commissioner Jessica Tishner,

she’s just on the job seven days, and she gave an excellent press conference and they let the media talk. You know, sometimes the police have press conference and they don’t think they have to talk to the media. But she entertained their questions and so in a horrible situation situation, a man who I work with right now worked with

Brian Thompson years ago before he moved on, and just said that he was a really wonderful and nice person, and that’s what everybody seemed to think about him. But I think as a city, we you know, have to just start hoping that the crime and the oddity of crimes diminishes because it’s really killing the city’s morale.

Speaker 1 Yes, I mean, and I said this, I mentioned your name on Thursday and Maria Baromo showing Fox a city that beats up allows a previous form of governor to get beat up like that.

Speaker 2 That’s not a quality of life, no, no, furthest thing from my mind. It was one of those situations that escalated very quickly, and I’m happy to say I got punched in the face, but I also threw someone else into the class window at McDonald’s and he was the one assailant that wasn’t charged because he never got to

hit anybody. But in all seriousness, we’re, you know, approaching our mayoral elections and that kind of thing, and you know, I’m hoping that we’ll hear some ideas from the candidates and Mayor Adams that he remains a candidate, or anyone else who chooses to jump in as to how quickly we can try to diminish this problem. It can be done.

Rudy Giuliani did a good job. Mayor Bloomberg on the crime statistics did an even better job, and as much as former Mayor Bill Deblasio is a controversial figure. The four years that the eight years that he was in office, crime never really spiked at that particular time, and so we’re just going to have to maybe go back and

take some lessons from some of those previous leaders and helped it. This is a different type of a case. This is not, you know, crime because two people had an argument and someone shot someone or something like that.

This was clearly planned out by the assailant, and who knows if any one else is involved.

Speaker 1 Understood now, the number one problem in New York is still the quality of life, and there’s challenges going on back and forth. The challenges are there. There are people saying there’s a new sheriff in town. President Trump says there’s no sanctuary cities, and there are other Democrats that say we’re gonna fight them to the end of the earth.

I mean, where’s the Tomon sense? I mean President and Trump he is the He could press a button and you’re gonna have less federal money. I mean, so where’s the Tom sense in New York?

Speaker 2 And Aubany stop the presses. I’m not used to doing this, but I’m about to quote Roger Stone, who also will be on Today later on, and he said that when he heard what these officials were saying about not losing the sanctuary city and fighting that type of thing, he thought about George Wallace drawing a line in the sand

against the federal government. It’s took the one hundred and first Airborne Division to go in and help to desegregate the state of Alabama even after the nineteen sixty four Civil Rights Act had been passed. And I don’t it’s interesting how Governor Wallace and these elected officials in New York would be so different in terms of their ideology,

but so similar in that they just think that they can ignore the government and that they can impose their will on a situation where the federal government rules and listen for those who are upset about it, get over it.

Donald Trump won. I didn’t vote for him, but he did win, and therefore he’s going to take measures to try to clean up the city in a way that’s been different. I think he has to at least be given a chance.

Speaker 1 I agree with you one hundred and ten percent, and I did vote for Trump, you.

Speaker 2 Know, And it looks I said otherwise, John, No.

Speaker 1 I just want quality of life in New York. I want quality of life in our country, and that’s that’s the number one item. I don’t want drugs coming from the borders. I don’t want criminals coming through the borders.

And that’s just a basics. Governor, senday morning, anything else you want to tell these people.

Speaker 2 Well, it is interesting that Eric Adams is totally embracing the president’s plan. Uh. You know, some people feel that he has an ulterior motive. But even if he does, you know, sometimes why people are doing things isn’t as important as the fact that they’re actually doing things. And he’s ready to start setting up ways to be helpful

when the federal government wants to come in. And that’s I think a real positive signal we can take today, at least for what may be happening in the next few months. And I think, as I said to you last week, that all of us need to take a deep breath. You know, the election’s over, we went through

the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s a good time to be merry. It’s Christmas, and then we can really start to find some workable, sensible and achievable goals for this city and the state as well. And I think that we have some you know, strong leaders that can do that if they will put themselves on the line, which often escapes

people when they are in office.

Speaker 1 Agree, President Trump loves New York and he comes here more often, and I think if everybody cooperates, he’s gonna do a lot more for New York. And he’s in a position to be able to do that.

Speaker 2 Well. He is in position to really rewrite history’s memory of him. And you know, he’ll always be Donald Trump. I mean, you and I know him personally as well as as professionally. You know he’ll always be, you know, kind of an unguided missile. But he clearly seems to have a plan, and I thought it was amazing that

he put his cabinet together that quickly. Although I do think that in the future we might think a little bit more about background checks because this could have happened if President Biden had won. But I think we’ve got to make sure that we are nominating people that you don’t get stuck as president as a couple of times

in this situation.

Speaker 1 Thank you, Governor Patterson, and thank you for your wisdom. And we’ll we’ll see you later or we’ll see you soon. And we’ve got Christmas coming, we got New Year’s coming, and let’s pray for America.

Speaker 2 Not a bad idea, John, especially on Sunday,
