Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with Us is former Speaker Newt Gingrich, one of the smartest guys I know, an author, a historian, the former speaker, one common sense guy. Well speaker of Gingrich. Have you ever seen a president accomplished as much in two and a half weeks as presidents from.

Speaker 2 Well, I think that he’s had an amazing couple of weeks. In fact, I would say he’s done about as much in his first three weeks as President Franklin Roosevelt did in the famous one hundred days. It is astonishing to watch all the different things he’s doing simultaneously, from executive orders to proposing laws to outlining foreign policy. I’ve never

seen anything like it.

Speaker 1 Exactly. And some of these things. Let’s take the domestic business already. You know, he’s reduced the influx of murderers and terrorists and drug dealers by what five percent? On migrants, and that’s got to help America.

Speaker 2 Well, it’s astonishing how rapidly they turned around the border, and of course this word went out across the world. People quit trying to come. I mean, so there’s been really a dramatic reduction in the number of people trying to come in here. At the same time, he has very methodically got ice out there doing their part to

begin to pick up violent criminals and to clean the place out. And I think you look at a place like Colorado, we had a bunch of liberal leaders who tell us or no problems. They’ve picked up over one hundred criminals from Venezuela in Colorado alone, So I think that the program is beginning to really work. And I

think what the new Attorney General did to the Pambondi and saying to these cities and states, you know, if you remain sanctuaryes, we’re going to start cutting off your money. I think that’s been having. In fact that plus they’ve folwed a lawsuit against Chicago and against the governor of Illinois for trying to be a sanctuary, which is of

course under American law you can’t be. Even states cannot interpose themselves between the federal government and the citizens, so that’ll just collapse. But it’s been just just on that one front, it’s been an amazing opening. And frankly, that’s about ten percent of what he’s done.

Speaker 1 And he keeps sewing. He looks like he made peace with Mexico, and he made peace with Canada. He’s made peace with all the Central American countries. Where do we go next week? I mean, what’s gonna happen with the Ukraine and Russia. I believe that they’re going to have a sit down and make peace.

Speaker 2 What do you think, Well, before he gets it, let me just say I thought one of the most amazing moments was when he decided to sign the executive order banning men from competing in women’s sports, and they did it with young kids, young girls surrounding. It’s one of the great photo ops of all time, and I thought

it was a very effective moment where eighty percent of the American people agree with him that men should not be competing with girls and women in sports. I think the question you raised about Ukraine in Russia, it’s very clear the president one wants to stop the killing. He has really come into this term and I’ve watched him

evolve over the last four years. He really wants to be a peacemaker. That’s why his ideas in Gaza are so bold. And I think in the next few days you’re going to see some developments in terms of Ukraine and Russia that will be surprising to people. And I think he’s been communicating with Putin and with with Zelenski,

and I have every reason to believe that he is going to push very hard to get some kind of truth to and the killing and then to negotiate from there. So it’s going to be fascinating to watch because he’s a very determined, very strong person, and he’s been He’s smart, so when he wants to get something done, he really

finds ways to keep working at it that normal people can’t imagine.

Speaker 1 You know, And I really can’t imagine it, you know. I think we all realize. I think the world was realizing if President Trump was still president from twenty twenty to twenty twenty four, that there would not have been a war. I don’t think whatever you’re ready to Ukraine.

Speaker 2 You know. I happened to be at the White House the other night and went to the press conference with net Yahoo and Trump and then promising Yaho made the point that he thought had Trump stayed off for six months longer, they would have had a peace treaty between Saudi Arabia. And that’s how big an impact that promision

and Yahoo thinks president that Trump makes and I think that’s probably right. I think what you’re seeing happen is a remarkable transition with a leader who knows where he wants to go. Remember he said years now to develop all these relationships. This isn’t like nineteen seven or twenty seventeen when he was a brand new guy from Manhattan

and basically a real estate developer who won the presidency. He is now a very senior, serious person who knows all these guys personally and who has been thinking a long time about what we need to do to get the world back in the right place.

Speaker 1 Well, they know him, and I think they trust him now. The other thing I couldn’t understand is Zelenski was on the other day and he says he’s missing one hundred billion dollars. Did you understand what he meant by that? No?

I did.

Speaker 2 I mean, let me just say, first of all, it’s very clear historically that Ukraine has been a very corrupt place. So I don’t know whether he was saying that it had been stolen or if he was saying that we told him it was coming, but it hasn’t shown up yet, because it could be with equipment and you know, with

tanks and missiles and what have you. So I don’t know what he was saying, but I thought it did not help him at all.

Speaker 1 No, it didn’t. Also, the one thing, I don’t think President Trump trusts him. That’s just my opinion. The fact is President Trump said last week, well so that the minute they make peace between important in the Ukraine, that President Trump is demanding the Ukraine have elections.

Speaker 2 I think. I look, there’s no question that Zelenski has suspended the election laws. He’s basically serving as somebody who has hotel power without a popular vote. And I think that President Trump wants to re establish legitimacy and that if Zelenski can win, that’s terrific. But there is feeling I think both that he mismanaged the war and that

there’s too much corruption so he might find it a hard thing to try to get reelected.

Speaker 1 Absolutely, and the rumor is, and I don’t know if you know any better, the leading candidate against uh Zelenski is being treated like the Democratic Party treated President Trump.

Speaker 2 Yes, I think I think Zolensky is doing things that are going to come back to biting, because in fact he’s not in a position to break the rules and assume that the world’s going to go along with him.

I think he needs the confidence and trust of the Americans and the Europeans, and some of the things they’re doing are guaranteed to erode precisely that kind of confidence and trust.

Speaker 1 Uh, Speaker gang Ridge, we have a minute left. What else? What would you like to talk about to.

Speaker 2 Well, I just think people need to understand this is going to be slopping, it’s going to be complicated. What you’re seeing is the most changed oriented president in American history, and he believes, I think correctly, that he is doing what the American people wants. He’s going to get government under control. He’s going to get the establishment under control.

He’s going to get the bureaucracy respecting the American people. All of that’s going to be hard and complicated and a time sloppy, but that’s the nature of really large scale change. And we are living in one of the great historic moments of American history, and if he can pull it off, he will be one of the most

consequential presidents in America.

Speaker 1 Former Speaker Newt Gingridge, thank you for everything you’ve done for America and continue to do for America. God bless you, God bless America, and God save the world. Thank you so much, Take care,
