Former Deputy National Security Advisor KT McFarland tells John Catsimatidis that losing the House or Senate in the midterms would be a hit for President Trump but not the end of the world. She says he knows how to handle impeachment threats and that his policies are already built in, and she expects military action against Iran to resume after the election.

Key takeaways

  • McFarland said a House loss would mean impeachment, but Trump has been through it before.
  • She said Trump will not fire anyone in his cabinet, so he will not need Senate confirmations.
  • She said Congress will not be able to undo his trade agreements, regulation cuts or tax cuts.
  • She urged everybody to vote Republican and said she still thinks Republicans will probably win.
  • McFarland said the Iranians have miscalculated in thinking they can push Trump around.

Speaker 1 Sunday morning. Well, 23 days to the election. How are things going? Well, there’s nobody better to ask than KT McFarland, who’s been in politics for almost ever, and as long as I am, maybe a lot less than I am, because I’m older, much older. And KT McFarland, give us your gut feeling. I mean, you’re one smart lady, one

good friend to 23 days, everybody, I’m walking around, everybody’s asking me.

Speaker 2 Okay, so I’ve thought about this, John, and everybody’s, oh, if Trump loses the midterms, it’s going to be the end of the world. It’s going to be terrible. It’s going to be horrible for his policies. It’s going to be impeachment. But I’ve been thinking, okay, what are the component parts here? If he loses the House of Representatives,

what happens? Yeah, there will definitely be impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment. That’s all they’ll do. But Trump’s been to this rodeo. He knows what it’s like to face impeachment threats, and he’s wised up. He’s going to know how to handle it this time, having already been through it in the first term. So that’s not going to be such a

big deal. It’s not going to suck all the oxygen out of the Oval Office. The second thing is the Senate. Okay, so what if he loses the Senate? Well, you need the Senate to confirm... cabinet officers. Trump already has a terrific cabinet. He’s not going to fire anybody. Marco Rubio is going nowhere. Scott Besson is going to stay secretary

of the treasury. Pete Hegseth is going to stay. So he’s not going to need the Senate for that. And so what about the other policies that Trump has put in place? They’re already there. You know, we have the trade wars. He won the trade wars. We have new trade agreements with every country we need them with. So

that’s not going to change. He’s already cut regulation. That’s not going to change. Congress can’t put on a lot of regulation. We already have the tax cuts. Congress isn’t going to be able to change that. Congress isn’t going to be able to change a whole lot of anything.

And so when people say, oh, it’ll be the end of the world, I mean, look, it’ll be a hit.

Speaker 1 It’ll be bad.

Speaker 2 But it won’t be that bad, because I think President Trump’s policies are already built in. And if what the Secretary of Treasury says, that we are just about to have a real good growth in the economy, maybe even 5% in the third and fourth quarter, we’re going to see like growth levels that we haven’t seen since the

Reagan administration. And so I’m not as concerned about it. I would still urge everybody to go out and vote for, as President Trump says, think about me on the ballot, vote for the Republican candidate. I still think we’re going to probably win these elections. But if we don’t, I don’t think it’s the end of the world. I think

President Trump is still going to finish his last two years in office on a real upswing. Because the Iran war will be over eventually. And I think we win the Iran war. I know we win the Iran war.

And the economy, all of the indicators are there for having massive economic growth starting real soon.

Speaker 1 I think the Iran war is won already. And they’re just, whatever... soldiers they have left in the IRGC, they just keep stirring the pot until November 4th to make sure that the election goes against President Trump because President Trump is their enemy. And they’d rather have a weaker government in the United States so they can get their way like

they did during the four years of Biden. I mean, they almost bankrupted our country.

Speaker 2 The Iranians have so miscalculated. They think that Donald Trump is going to be pushed around like they pushed around Obama, like they pushed around Joe Biden. Donald Trump doesn’t get pushed around by anybody. And they think, the Iranians think, the IRGC, which is the group running Iran now, the military dictatorship of Iran, they think that they’re going to

somehow get President Trump to crash and crater and give in to their will. It’s not going to happen. And when President Trump a few days ago said, well, I don’t think we’re going to have an attack on Iran before the midterms, what has he really signaled? He’s signaled to Iran the day after the midterms, there’s nothing holding

me back. And so I do think that we will have a major, probably major resumption of military activities at the same time Iran continues to get squeezed economically. John, they’re not getting any revenue in. They’re not paying. Even the New York Times says that the Iranians aren’t paying their nurses. They’re not paying their military. The entire economy

is collapsing. And even murderous dictators like the IRGC, they have constituencies that they have to be a little concerned with. So I think that with the resumption of military activities and with the continuing collapse of the Iranian economy, the United States wins this war again. and also has managed to reorient the entire world energy sources.

Speaker 1 So, KT, what we have to do is just take day by day for the next 23 days.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it’s so hard to be patient, isn’t it? It’s very hard. It’s very hard to just wait, but relax. You know, there’s sometimes when the best thing to do is kind of let the clock play out, and I think that’s what we should do. President Trump has the right policy. We have won the Iran war. The Strait

of Hormuz is not going to be anything they can blackmail us with ever again because of the workarounds of oil pipelines and resupply routes and increased American energy production and exports. So he’s not only gotten rid of their nukes, but he’s defanged Iran for at least a generation.

Speaker 1 KT McFarlane, let’s catch up again next week and see if there’s any difference in opinion next week. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 Thank you so much, John.
