Automated transcript · uncorrectedWell, Sunday morning. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving with us this morning. To give us a report what’s going on in the European continent. We have Mario Oconomo, a former banker who worked in New York, London, Zurich for large money center banks, and he’s our eyes and ears in Europe. Well, Marrio, it was a holiday week
in New York, Europe was a working week. Tell us what the heck is going on?
Yes, good morning, mister Katsamatidiz. There was a Pew Research Center study that was released regarding NATO, and there were some interesting findings in it. I would have to say the general consensuses, people overall are tired of the war between Russia and the Ukraine. If you look at support for NATO amongst various NATO members in Europe, well, in
the US, it’s relatively high at fifty eight percent, and it’s relatively high in places like Poland at ninety one percent, in Germany at sixty four. But when you get to places like Greece, which is a NATO membran that has sent substantial amounts of aid military aid to Ukraine, the support drops. The thirty seven percent for NATO. Even in Turkia,
which is right across and as a member of NATO that’s constantly challenging Greece’s territorial sovereignty. The support is even there at forty two percent, so it’s higher than what it is in Greece. And I suspect much of this has to do with the fact that over the last fifty plus years there has been very little interest by
NATO in resolving the situation in Cyprus. Now, what’s interesting is mister Rute, who’s the new NATO Secretary General. He recently visited with President Elect Trump in the US. He subsequently went to Turkya where he met with the Turkish side in President Eruban, and he then went to Greece.
There’s talk now that they would like to have Cyprus join and in order to do.
That as two different countries in one country.
As one country, but they’re going to have to get Turkia’s permission or essentially vote to support Cypress joining. Subsequently, mister Route went to Greece, and a lot of people in Greece, specifically the opposition parties, are saying that Greece is going to be asked to essentially give something in return to Turkeia in order for Turkya to vote to
allow Cypress and too NATO. I don’t know what truth holds. We know that the form Prime Minister of Greece was a member also of the New Democracy Party, came out and made certain statements attacking the Prime Minister or the current sitting Prime Minister of Greece personally, and he was subsequently removed from the party himself, which is highly unusual
for a former prime minister of a country in Greece to be removed. But if we move, if we move along, we will.
Wasn’t just discussions that the Prime Minister of greet the current Prime Minister of Greece was in twalks with Turkey.
Greek Turkish talks are continuing as we speak. The Turks believe there’s more that needs to be negotiated and discussed, and what the Greeks are the Greeks are sticking strictly to what the international legal requirements are. The Turks want substantially more put on the table, for example, the disarming of the Islands of Greece, Discussions about minority what they
call ethnic Turkish minority in northern Greece, which is.
Greece. Did Greece agree to disarm Theese islands on along the Turkish coast.
Well, they haven’t agreed to disarm them. But a lot of the equipment that was on those islands, according to many people in the opposition parties in Greece, has actually made its way up to Ukraine. A lot of that equipment was Era and Russian equipment.
In other words, we’re taking can we find out the truth? We’re taking ornaments from the Greek islands and sending them to the Ukraine. That doesn’t make any sense.
So here’s the thing, mister Katsumatis. Yes, people like you need to go on the radio like you’re doing, and we need to ask the Greek Prime minister to actually step up and to tell us what exactly is the situation on the islands, what has in fact been sent and whether or not this the items that have been
sent from the islands have in fact been replaced by equally good, if not better, machines and equipment.
I would hope so, And I think we have to find out the truth. But let’s go to other things. Let’s discuss Ukraine and Russia. Yes, I mean that’s done a front page of the American press. What’s going on behind the scenes there.
So, in the last two months, Russia has actually seized roughly eleven hundred square miles of territory in Ukraine. More miles additional square miles in the last month alone, they’ve done roughly four hundred square miles. This is indicative of how the Russian army or military has worked historically. At the beginning, they’re always slow out the gate for some
odd reason. But once the Russian steamroller starts coming across, there’s very little that can actually stop it. And that’s what we’re seeing now as the lines in the Ukraine continue to fold and collapse. The attackers are actually hitting inside Russia, not as deep as I believe mister Zelenski would like them to. They have taken out the Russians,
in fact, even confirmed this a radar station for the S four hundred system in the Course region. They did hit an airport in the Course region. President Putin, however, has said he will continue to press on. He’s open to a dialogue, and the Kremlin has announced that they are looking forward to President elect Trump becoming president so
that they can actually have a viable party with whom they can sit down and discuss a resolution and a conclusion to the war, but once again only on the basis of what the existing lands that Russia has occupied will remain in Russia’s control.
Understood, anything else you want to tell you American people on Thanksgiving Week?
I think it’s important to point out that in Europe there there continues to be very high energy prices. The cost of food remains high. This is now well into the third year of this. People are getting tired of it.
And even though they keep telling us inflation is moderating and it’s down month on month year on year, the fact is the prices remain high. And as you know, mister Katsimatids, once the prices go up, they sell them, if ever make their way back down. So this is going to present longer term problems in the European Union
with respect to wages and pricing of goods.
Understood well, Marioconamo. I know you’re an American too, So happy Thanksgiving Week week, and thank you for reporting from Europe. And God bless you, and God bless America and God bless Europe.
Enjoy your day. Mister Catsman TV’s
