Speaker 1 What is today is. Mario Economo is a former banker who has worked in New York, London and Zurich the Large Money cent to banks and raised he was also raised in Europe in the Middle East. Mario Economo’s you said to you about you have some interesting news coming out of Europe. You give us what you have.

Speaker 2 Sure, well, let’s start and let’s touch on the fact that we’re now two years into the war in the Ukraine. And what I thought maybe we could do is I could give you a quick recap of where we are in Europe with respect to that. We could also touch on the common agricultural policy and all the farmers protests

that you most likely have read about, as well as some other things. So I guess we could start by saying that recently, everybody knows President macrono France made an announcement saying that he couldn’t rule out the fact that Europe would send troops to the Ukraine to fight in the war there. That was of course quickly rebuffed by

the Germans and the Chairman, the Chancellor sorry of Germany, as well as mister Kirby in the US. However, President Macron has come back to that point. Once again, it coincided with a recording that the Russians released of the Germans planning to use their Taurus missiles to actually attack Crimea.

The Germans have said that in fact, this was never the case and this wasn’t part of the plan. The Russians, for their part, are saying that there was always a plan all along by Germany to actually get involved on the ground, and Macron’s statements are proof of that. Germany has denied this. We know that the Prime Minister of

Greece recently visited the Ukraine and there was a bomb a missile which landed several kilometers away. There were statements made that this was an attempt on Zelenski’s life. However, the Russians have said that they were not targeting Zelenski, that they were actually hitting a drone production facility at the port in Odessa, and mister Mdvetti said that if

in fact they’d had intended to target Zelensky, Zelensky would have been dead.

Speaker 1 At this point.

Speaker 2 Let’s touch on what’s going on with respect to the farmers in Europe. You’ve seen no doubt that there have been massive protests of farmers and their tractors going to Brussels, various European capitals, shutting down the city centers, throwing manure on government buildings. This has to do with something called the Common Agricultural Policy, which is actually hurting the farmers

across Europe. An example of this word is the Ukrainian trucks which are coming across from the Ukraine and into Poland. The farmers in Poland they’re blocking the entrance of these trucks which are bringing in wheat which is being sold for a lot less than what the Polish farmers can sell their wheat for. So the Polish farmers are of

course upset, and other farmers across Europe are upset because many Ukrainian products are making their way into Europe and they’re being delivered and bought by the European companies at prices far lower than what the European farmers can sell their products for. And of course this is creating a tremendous amount of conflict within the European Union itself.

Speaker 1 Understood UH and UH with France. France wants to do UH to send possible troops on data ones that refuse to send any help to the United States and the Red Sea.

Speaker 2 I’m sorry, I didn’t hear that this sent help today with France.

Speaker 1 It was Spain, France, and Italy refused to send any help to the Red Sea for the United States.

Speaker 2 Yes, that that’s true. That’s true. That did change. In fact, you raise a good point. Greece has sent the ship there, a frigate. As a Greek I have to tell you I’m in complete disagreement with the fact that Greece has sent a frigate there, and Greece is actually coordinating the quote unquote European effort. I don’t think it’s necessary. I

think Greece is a country that should not be sending ships twenty five hundred miles away from its home. Our ships are there to protect Greece, the homeland, the ag and c and our immediate islands. I don’t see what the role of sending our ships there is. However, France has also sent some ships now, as has Italy to

the Red Sea, but as has Germany. By the way, but also this is a bit of a joke, and I’m happy you raised this point, mister a Katsumtids, because the Germans also sent the frigate, and the German frigate actually fired. I don’t know if you heard this, they fired on a US drone accidentally, they missed. They fired

two missiles. Now, I don’t know what’s worse that a German frigate fired on an ally drone or that they fired two missiles and they actually missed a drone which is actually a relatively slow moving vehicle. So I’m not sure what the Europeans think they’re doing. They’re definitely not able to intercept any hypersonic missiles, so I think the

best thing to do is to actually figure out how to resolve the situation in Israel and in Gaza so that Hutis will stop attacking ships and we can go back to business as usual. You do raise the point about France, and I think this is a good point to raise today. They had, sorry, earlier this week, they

had an election the European Popular Party to see who they were going to put forward to be the next European Commission President, and they agreed to allow or rather to have a mis vonder lyon who’s currently the current EU Commission President to continue in that role. Of course, that’s going to depend on what the parliamentary elections in

June say, and how they the whole parliament votes. It’s important to point out, however, that out of the four hundred votes, roughly one hundred voted against her and abstained, and the majority of those that voted against her were all French MPs. So clearly we see there is a problem, a very deep seated problem between France and Germany at

the moment in Europe. And obviously this doesn’t bode well both for the European Union, the Eurozone, or for the war effort in the Ukraine, which, as I mentioned three months ago, in any event, is over. And you know, I’m happy to discuss that on another program with your on your afternoon segment. But the war in the Ukraine

is all but over. I think prolonging it at this point unnecessarily cost many lives as well as the scholars which Europe can afford to spend.

Speaker 1 Mario Konomo, thank you for bringing the American people up to date, and we’ll catch up with you again.

Speaker 2 Go to thank you. Enjoy your day.
