Speaker 1 What is today’s doctor Peter Mihelos are in house genius and he is a historian. He talks about medical affairs and doctor Mihelos, what would you like to talk to about this Sunday morning?

Speaker 2 Well, what I wanted to talk about today was some fascinating revelations about the human gut and that’s our intestinal track and how what bacteria, the good, the bad, certain bacteria in our gut. We found that when you have a good amount of certain of the good bacteria, it actually helps fight all things like covid, RSV and flu.

It turns out we have one hundred and one hundred trillion different organisms that live in our intestinal tract and cumulatively in humans. The average weight of all these organisms is four point four one pounds. It’s unbelievable. And we have in our integ did you say trillion, trillion, one hundred trillion, could you imagine? And they weigh four point

four one pounds. And what’s really interesting is that, and it’s almost like having these little aliens that basically came into our body and what one time may have been an infection, but now they coexist with us and they actually work with us. And certain bacteria can actually kill viruses, and even our lung system has these things called alvel

or macrofadges, which basically from the Greek word large eat macro filo, and basically infections that come into the lung. They’re the first line of defense, like the force field that William Shatner had on his spaceship the Enterprise, and basically they’re the front line, and they can actually kill viruses.

A lot of people don’t realize bacteria some of them can actually kill viruses, so that’s another thing. And the.

Speaker 2 Lining of our intestine is only one cell thickness, so the distance between our food and the nutrients, and then right below it is the bloodstream, and that’s why that barrier is so important, and that’s why seventy five percent of our white blood cells over around the tube of our intestine to protect infection from entering our body. And

it turns out that as we’ve heard many times, that the gut now they know is eighty percent of our immune system, which is also quite amazing. And also they found that it actually talks to our brain and to our thyroid and it even makes the happy hormone CaAl serotonin that increases our happiness levels, So that’s another interesting thing.

And it also communicates because through what you eat, like if you eat something from a certain part of the world with a certain soil, the gut microbiome actually can read that. For example, if you’re eating stressed plants or stressed olive oil from a place like Morocco where there’s a lot of UV light, there’s chemicals that talk to

the gut and tell it you know what’s there’s a dryness out there, there’s not enough water, it could be problems with food shortages. So there’s like a constant communication between the microbiome of the sea, what we eat from fish, and the soil communicate with the gut. So and on future shows, we’re going to talk about more about what

prebiotics are post biotics, and what you can do and how you can actually now test your gut, analyze it and see if you’re low on certain bacteria like those as these bacteria we talked about before that they found in covid patients they have a low amount of a certain bacteria. One of them is in the lact of

basilla’s family. It’s called So you can actually in the future you go to your doctor and you can do a test and say, you know what, you don’t have enough of this uh this bacteria in your gut. You can take a pill and a supplement so you’re less likely to have severe consequences from covid flu and RSV.

And as our friend doctor Magdalena always says, the gut is the second brain because it actually works so well. And that’s why as we talk about into manfest, it works well because we’re not focusing on digestion during that sixteen hours, the gut is actually working on all these other things and saying, Okay, I got to kill some viruses,

I got to deal with immune problems, I got to balance everything out. I got to make sure I reabsorb the water. Like when we drink water, it gets reabsorbed in our colon, and when our gut is unhappy or as an infection, the lining swells up and then water can’t reabsorb and that results in things like diarrhea, like

when people go to certain countries and they get something close.

Speaker 1 Well, if you have if you ate food, that’s really not good, right you? How long does it take for the gut to spill it out in diarrhea? To make that decision.

Speaker 2 As soon as it causes inflammation and the immune system starts attacking the wall of the gut. Once the immune system gets inflame, all the little tiny junctions that the water gets to re absorbed get plugged up, and then what happens diarrhea. That’s the way the body protects it.

Diarrhea is a way to flush out the bad stuff. The thing with diarrhea you have to be careful, especially in children, that you got to constantly replenish and rehydrate because otherwise you can go into shocked and you can get severely ill if you’re not getting enough fluids. So that’s why it has to be treated. But when you

do have these things, always console with your physician, hydrate extremely well, and continue listening.

Speaker 1 Peter, when you take that test for your for your gut, you said treatings of bio how many type are there? About thirty thousand, So in other words, there’s thirty thousand different bacteria I owe, whatever viruses, even some funguses. It’s a combination. But basically you’re not going to get a print out of thirty thousand different You’re not going to

get a print out of thirty thousand different viruses.

Speaker 2 Right, Well, you actually you actually do and now why through the genetic testing because they each have a different genetic code. So now when you analyze it, you actually can get a print out and even the subtypes. Now that’s how detailed it’s become. Again, it’s not yet in the doctor’s office, but there are integrative medicine specialists who

do that where they send it out it’s called the Gut and Zoomer test, and they can analyze it. Is it’s totally mind body everything.

Speaker 1 Well that’s for Peter me. Hellos, thank you so much and and well we’ll talk about it further soon.

Speaker 2 Thank you very much, Live long and prosper to our audience, and thanks for always getting the truth out on the CATS round Table.
