Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us is Governor George Pataki, and he always contributes a great deal to the understanding of what the heck is going on. Governor Patacky, you tell us, I wish.

Speaker 2 I could explain what’s going on and all, but the other than the fact that they’re just just terrible. I mean, the budget is due Tuesday, April first, and they’re talking about raising taxes again. And the idea that this state, which is losing more people than any other state. I can’t tell you the number of my friends who have

moved to Florida, is thinking about raising taxes. This would be the straw that breaks the camels back. They just can’t do it. But the legislature is so far left and so unaccountable, I fear that they might.

Speaker 1 Well, you know, and the good news is the law the Court of Appeals said that only American citizens in New York City, New York State could vote.

Speaker 2 You know, that just shows how crazy the Democrats in New York State and New York City have become the idea that you’re going to let people who are not citizens, many of whom have come here illegally, actually decide who leaves the city is nonsense, and thank god the court finally did the right thing. But John, I’ll tell you,

we’ll see what happens Tuesday with the budget. But if they raise taxes, I will be more discouraged than I am now and John and he will know the MTA is a bottomless pit. They just got I think nine billion dollars from congesting pricing another tax on New Yorkers, and the next day they say they have another thirty

five billion dollar hole. This is totally ridiculous and unsustainable. It’s got to stop. And if it doesn’t, you know who’s going to be left in this in the state of than the people who live off the government.

Speaker 1 The only person that could could help, Governor hocals President Trump. And if you plays it right, you never know, mister President Trump might help. But if if she plays it wrong, I guess you know, we got problems in New York State.

Speaker 2 We do have problems. We have problems now, and I fear they’re going to get better. And you’re right that President trump personal relationships mean a lot. And if he felt he had a good relationship with the governor, maybe he’d be inclined to do something to help. But I just don’t know. I do know that I am really frightened, John,

given to Albany’s history and what the less Democrats have done in Albany over the past few years, and the fact that they’re now working on a budget and talking about raising taxes. I’ll tell you, if I weren’t so loyal and didn’t love New York so much, I’d have to start thinking about looking elsewhere too.

Speaker 1 I think you’re one hundred percent correct. I would do the same thing. But I’m loyal to New York right now. Anything else you want to tell you all New York is all American people.

Speaker 2 This morning, Well I’ll tell you. I just got back a few days ago from Hungary, and it was a very interesting trip because it’s a country in central Europe that is a link between Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and others and the West, and it has been completely isolated because the Biden administration wouldn’t even talk to them.

But now there’s some hope that we can have a dialogue going and perhaps have better ties, and that will allow us to try to peacefully settle things in Eastern Europe. So we’ll see what happens, but at least there’s some hope because the people are talking. There’s always the chance for a breakthrough.

Speaker 1 Well, you’re covering to protect you. Thank you for the update and let’s catch up again real soon.

Speaker 2 Thank you, John. Always good to be on. Thank you.
