Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning. Well, this is doctor Peter me Hellos, Live Long and prosper, and we owe every Sunday we do get a lot of stuff that’s gonna make us live a little bit longer. So if you listen in every Sunday, I’ll certify that you’re going to live long if you follow the doctor’s thoughts. But you do always do your
own research. Doctor me Hellos, tell us what’s up for this week.
Well, today we’re going to really talk about beyond our planet and traveling to other places. As we hear about the return of the astronauts on SpaceX and their extended stay in space. We’re going to discuss what happens to the human body when it goes out into space. And it is fascinating and it turns out that we can
tolerate differences for a while. But it turns out that the magic number is three months, because after about three months, astronauts start to experience bone loss, muscle loss, they undergo visual changes because of gravity. The blood tends to instead of going downwards with gravity, it tends to flow upwards, and that’s why they get the puffy moon face from
the blood going the other way and they’re also at much higher risk for blood clots because we need venus return from our blood coming down from our legs and it tends to slow down. And the other interesting thing that they still don’t fully understand is our skin starts to get thinner after three months of being in space
and you’re basically in these protective suits and you’re out there and you’re not really sweating and you’re not doing normal operating functions. And then the other thing that nobody talks about is the space radiation. And that’s why these capsules are lined with polyethylene, which is basically a high density polyethylene called HDP, and it’s a popular material for
space radiation shielding because it has a high hydrogen content which basically blocks and absorbs and mitigates radiation. And that’s one of the big problems with going to Mars or living on Mars, because the human beings can’t really tolerate all this radiation and radioactive particles. Because we now know from Earth studies where they’ve looked at millions of charts
that people born during peak solar activity, peak solar radiation, they tend on an average to die five years sooner than the rest of the population. So you can imagine when you don’t have the magnetosphere of the Earth, which acts as a big radiation shield. The Earth spins one thousand miles an hour, and inside is this molten metal
like a motor, and it’s actually spinning and it creates that magnetic field around the Earth. And that’s why we don’t fry from space radiation because it protects us.
So our creators that created us and created the planet Earth created something that’s going to protect us because.
It’s a force field that keeps us safe and that bounces off. But sometimes when the amount of radiation is overwhelming, it can punch through a time. So that’s why I tell people I actually follow a spaceweather dot com and I know when this peak Sola flares, and I tend to want to stay indoors because the radiation is much greater,
especially for more children, because we now know their radiation effects damage, just like we now know if you get too many cat scans, too much radiation, it’s cumulative over a lifetime and it can alter your DNA and all you need is one or two cells to start multiplying like crazy, and then suddenly you have cancer. The other
thing is for the future, if we have a Mars colony, we’re going to need artificial gravity in order to avoid these problems like muscle loss, bone loss, and that’s why you see them. They tell them to exercise three hours a day on the space station, and that’s why when they come back to Earth they need to be on
stretchers because they’re dizzy and lightheaded because they’re not used to gravity, and all of a sudden the blood comes out of their head. And they also have been reported to be one or two inches taller.
Is it beyond gravity? Is it even if you exercise, you still have problems.
No, you still do, but at least you’re using your muscles and your body actually elongates and you get an inch to two inches taller. The problem is when they come back after their body and spinal cord has stretched and the spine gets exposed to gravity, it suddenly collapses.
So they’re having more back problems and more herniated disks. So all these things need to be worked out, and there’s gonna be a whole subspecialty of medicine which is happening now, cold aerospace medicine, and we’re gonna have to work all these things out before we can make trips to Mars, because you might make it to Mars, but
you might not make it back because of all the radiation and toxicity. And also we learned about the gut microbiome. And guess why a lot of people died in Hiroshima, Nagasaki Because when your microbiome gets zapped with a lot of radiation, it kills it, and that kills eighty percent of your immunity. And that’s one of the ways that
a nuclear attack, nuclear fallout, and even pelvic radiation for cancer damages your gut microbiome. So these things all have to be worked out. We’re going to be seeing a lot of exciting new things. So keep listening to w ABC and live long and prosper, and one day we will get to Mars.
Wow. Do you think there’s a secret that we don’t know?
I think there’s a lot of secrets we don’t know. And that’s why the ancient Greeks always said, the more we learn and the more we know, the more we realize how much we don’t know.
Tell us what else would you like to talk about? This Sunday morning, they just you know, they just switched me my blood pressure medicine from a name brand to a generic brand. Now what does that mean? Am I getting less? How should I say? The best way to say it is it less, more risky or less effective?
It depends on where it’s from, where all the materials were sourced. But most of the time it works out fine. But what you have to do is actually measure your blood pressure and see if there’s a difference. I myself personally, I tried a certain blood pressure medicine that was generic, and then I actually ordered the brand name to do
a trial, and my blood pressure was better with the brand name medicine. So there shouldn’t be a difference, But unfortunately in some cases there are, Like even with certain eye drops, you.
Know where who’s saving the money The pharmacy that I get it from is one of our companies. We’re not making more money on generic. So who’s making the money? Is it the provider?
There’s something called the middlemen that I’ve read about called pharmacy benefit managers, and that’s one of the things that they’re going after. So there’s a bunch of middlemen in the process. You know, you can go in Europe, for example, in Greece, and you can buy over the counter. You can buy for ten cents, you can buy a met
Foreman pill, or you can buy a lot of things over the counter, whereas here we have a lot of stages. And also it’s because of the litigation, because everywhere you have all this legal and lawsuits, and someone has to pay for all that litigation happening in this country another country, losers pay so here because of all the litigation, each
pill is priced in a certain amount for lawsuits and settlements. Wow.
Well, doctor Peter Mihllos, thank you very much and God bless you. Thank you for many making our listeners live longer and and they’re on the radio longer and longer time just to listen to you.
Thank you John for always getting the truth out on the Cats Roundtable.
