Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us Today is Jack Cidarelli, the leading candidate running for governor for the state of New Jersey. And Jack Ciarelli tell us what’s going on in Jersey and how are we going to make it better?

Speaker 2 John, it’s great to be back with you. New Jersey individuals and our businesses face the highest overall tax burden in the country and that’s because Film Murphy’s increased spending twenty two billion dollars over his seven plus years in office.

We need to control spending. I’ll do that as a governor. And we need to lower taxes for our individuals, whether it’s income taxes, property taxes, and make the state a better place to do business. John, I’ve got to lower the business tax and make the state less regulatory intensive.

I think we can do that without screwing the consumer or doing a reparable harm to the environment. So that’s what needs to be done.

Speaker 1 And when you wait, wait, wake up at three o’clock in the morning. What other problems do you.

Speaker 2 See in Jersey right now? John? Electricity rates are skyrock People have seen a twenty percent increase in their bill and it’s going to get worse when the air conditioners go on. That’s because Phil Murby bet at all on wind and the whole thing is crashed and burned because it was bad economics, it was bad energy policy, it

was bad environmental policy. We’ve got to burn more natural gas. It’s our bridge to the future. I’ll lift the moratorium on natural gas fired electrical generation plants, and what Donald Trump started I will finish. Thank you, mister President, for putting a temporary halt on the wind farms. When I’m governor come January, we’re going to kill those farms altogether.

Speaker 1 Now, the thing with energy. Energy was up to eighty ninety dollars a barrow for oil. It’s back down to in the high sixties. And President Trump thinks he’s going to get it down to the low sixties or high fifties. Now, once electricity companies raise the price through they ever lower it.

Speaker 2 Well, that’s all good news what the President is doing. Unfortunately, New Jersey we’re also very dependent on natural gas. I mean, forty percent of our electricity John comes from two nuclear power plants in South Jersey. Ten percent comes from solar.

But natural gas is the bridge to the future, and we need more natural gas fired electrical generation plants. They only take two years to come online, and we’ll have that when I’m governor. We’ve got to get those electrical.

Speaker 1 Rates down understood. What are there more candidates running other than you?

Speaker 2 There are more candidates in there. We have the best poll numbers by far, the best name. I’d I’ve raised more money than the other five candidates combined, and we want to build on twenty twenty one. John, we were the spark that lit the fuse. You remember that very close race against Phil Murphy, And the really good news

is in the three plus years since that race, new Republican registrations have outpaced new Democratic registrations and the gap between the two parties is closed by more than two hundred thousand. So when you think about the closeness of my race and the fact that we’ve got two hundred thousand more Republicans in the state of New Jersey, now,

I think that sends a really good signal that we’re going to be as successful this November. And not just for me, John, I’m all about flipping seats in the state legislature, and I think we got a spot at having something we haven’t had in thirty years, a Republican majority in our state Assembly.

Speaker 1 Do people feel safe in New Jersey? Is there like in New York where I live. I’m still looking behind my back when I walk around.

Speaker 2 We’ve got to get back to support and law enforcement. We haven’t done that under Phil Murphy and his attorney general has handcuffed our local police. John, my Attorney General, will support the local police. I don’t have a problem with no knock warrants. I don’t have a problem with canines for crowd control. I don’t have a problem with

high speed chases necessarily. And we’re getting rid of cashless bail. Cashless bail has created professional criminals. So if we want safe communities, we got to support and have the back of our local law enforcement professionals. These are trained professionals.

I feel very strongly about letting them do their job. My Attorney General and the twenty one county prosecutors that I appoint, we’ll do just that in New Jersey, and we’ll make our community safe again.

Speaker 1 So you’ll be able to cooperate with federal law enforcement to get all the criminals out.

Speaker 2 Well, we’ll do that because on day one, we’re going to issue an executive order on day one of my administration, Executive Order number one, no town will be allowed to be a sanctuary city, and we will not be a sanctuary state. And so I’m never going to tell a police chief or our local mayor they can’t work in

partnership with a federal agency to keep their community safe. If that’s the progative, let them keep their community safe.

Speaker 1 Jackson, Arellie, good luck. When is the primary?

Speaker 2 June tenth? John? Vote by mail ballots already go out in a couple of weeks. Then we have six days of early voting, and then primary day itself is June tenth, so we’re about ten weeks out. But we’ll continue doing what we’re doing here, finish strong and deliver a win.

Speaker 1 Well, good luck, and we’ll be there for you, and let’s talk again real.

Speaker 2 Thank you, John,
