Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us is Congresswoman Nicole Mayo Takis, and she’s got some big news for the women in the world.

Speaker 2 Nicole, Well, John, I want to thank you for having me on today. As you know, I’ve been working to build the Smithsonian Women’s History Museum on the National Mall in Washington, d C. So we can pay tribute to the women who have contributed so much in our nation’s history.

From Susan B. Anthony, who pushed the Nineteenth Amendment to give us the right to vote, to those who helped bring the Nineteenth Amendment, which was by the way, a Republican Congress that approved it and majority of Republican states that ratified it. To Richard Nixon who signed the Title nine to give women to eliminate discrimination for women and

girls in athletics and education program and of course our work to protect women in sports. The first woman to the Supreme Court, Andrew Day O’Connor. All of these individuals, the riveters who worked during World War Two take it on the roles of men in manufacturing to keep our supply chain going. And the Black Angels from my district

in Staten Island. They were nurses who helped find the cure tuberculosis. This museum, I think is really an amazing thing. And I was very proud this week because President Trump, at his Women’s History Month celebration, supported my legislation supports building the museum on the National Mall Mall. And this is a huge development because this will be part of

his legacy and the work that he is doing to support women. As you know, he issued executive order to protect women in sports, to make sure that men could not compete against girls because we’ve seen young women, young girls get hurt. His support for IVF and trying to expand access to it, making our cities, in our streets safe.

These are all really important issues for women, and I’m really glad that we’re going to move forward together with President Trump to a find the home on the National Mall, which we already have, know the land we want to use, and we’ve got to transfer that land over so we can get this built.

Speaker 1 Understood, Now, how soon do you think that will happen? Two years? Five years?

Speaker 2 Well, John, as you know, we’ve been working diligently to pass a path a legislation in the House of Representatives where we’ve built ninety five co sponsors from across the political spectrum, Republicans and Democrats who have come together to support the creation of this museum to be a tribute for America’s women. We actually also joined with the original

wonder Woman, Linda Carter, who is supporting our efforts as well to promote this legislation, and so we’re gardnering a tremendous amount of support. We’ll be meeting with the President in the coming weeks to go over the next steps, and we really look forward to getting this land transferred, and that’s what my legislation will do, so then we

can begin the process of a groundbreaking and getting this done.

Speaker 1 Nicole Mayor Takis, you do a great by partisan on this women’s museum. God bless you. I’m happy you did it, and God bless America. Thank you.

Speaker 2 Happy Women’s History Month, and look forward to seeing you against soon. John, thank you, thank you.
