Retail Results, Bitcoin Gains and Major Economic Developments
Transcript
Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning. Well, we always get an update from John Terrett on the markets. Well, John Terrett, what the heck is going on?
We do good morning job. Well, it was all about retail this past week. Home Depot, for example, the home improvement store doing very well, beating Wall Street, but mainly because small weekend warriors are going in there to get those small jobs done, not the really big jobs. Lowe’s It’s great rival is concerned about home improvement spending. Target
or Taja was the surprise of the week with same store sales at three point eight percent. That was an eyebrow raiser for everybody. Well done. Target. Walmart, on the other hand, a very rare sales. Miss shares down nine or ten percent on the day that the news came out.
There is growth in the business, but mostly in the online division. An Esta Lauder was my company of the week, a remarkable turnaround, sales climbing once again, and this after the last five or six years when they’ve had a duty free slump, they’ve had a China slump, and they were late coming to their online division. They’re recovering well now. Bitcoin,
of course, was surging in this past week. That’s because the Clarity Act is now being pushed by President Trump quite hard. It comes to the floor of the Senate on the fifteenth of September. And bitcoin on Friday was at seventy seven thousand dollars per token, and that is the best in three years. On the other hand, the
Treasury Section was in a bit of turmoil, to say the least. Of course, the Treasury tried to intervene on Wednesday didn’t seem to work. We have to see how that happens and what happens next. And the New York Post on Friday reporting that Morgan Stanley is the latest of the big banks to choose Dallas, Texas to move
four eight hundred jobs to away from New York. And you can guess why that might be. As for the week ahead tomorrow, wow, I know, four eight hundred down to Dallas, Texas. Not here. As for the week ahead, good less and the Treasury Secretary will outline the Trump administration’s plans for dampening the economy in Iran, attacking the
economy in Iran. Really want to put two fine a point on it. That’ll be tomorrow Monday. We get second look at the second quarter of GDP later in the week. The big story of the week will be in video with their earnings on Wednesday, and Jackson holl they get together of the great and the Good in business and
Economics and academia starts on the twenty seventh, So that’s Thursday through to next Saturday.
John, thank you so much, and we’ll catch up again real soon. But don’t forget. I promised the world sixty thousand Dow Jones by December thirty one. Let’s make sure it goes there.
Well, you told me that DAL was going to fifty thousand a couple of months ago, and it did so I have no reason to distrust you none whatsoever. Thank you so Munday.
It made me late.
You never know. Bye bye
