Speaker 1 Sunday Morning with us today from Vancouver, Canada, doctor Patrick Moore, and he’s been studying about the environment and he’s got a new book. He’s the author of a new book and it’s called Fate Invisible Catastrophes and Threats of Doom. Well, doctor Patrick Moore, tell us what you wrote in the new books.

Speaker 2 Well, one of the problems about the environmental issues is some of them are basically invisible, and that would include carbon dioxide. No one can see it, so you can make up stories about it, you know, all you want.

And then there’s the radiation from nuclear plants and other things. You can’t see that either. And what’s the bad thing in GMO foods, Well, it doesn’t have a name. Therefore, even though CO two and radiation are real things, it’s just that you can’t see them for yourself. But with the GMO there isn’t anything. Everything has a name, and

there’s no name for any bad thing in GMOs. They’re just genes from other species which were perfectly good in the other species, and there’s nothing wrong with them being put carefully into species in order to improve them for nutrition and growth and all those things. So, but the other interesting one but.

Speaker 1 Doctor boy, I’ll tell you, Doctor Bore, I’ll tell you how I feel. There’s been rumors around for for the last of thousands of years. Five hundred years ago they told Columbus you can’t go too far, You’re gonna fall off the edge of the Earth. I mean, in this climate change situation. The Earth is four big and years old.

It’s a living It continuously renews itself. And you know, when you ask the people, you know what the purpose of a hurricane is, they don’t know. Do you know the purpose of cychlone is? They don’t know. Well, the purpose is the planet Earth is a living entity, and it controls the temperature through creating different situations, whether it’s

it’s cychlons or whether it’s hurricanes, to bring down the temperature to what the creator, the creator of planet Earth wanted it to be.

Speaker 2 Well, one of the ironies of the situation is that we are actually in an ice age now. It’s called a place to see. It started two point six million years ago and it’s gone up and down and up and down and up and down, that always at very low temperatures compared to what we had prior to that.

For over one hundred million years there was there’s no ice on either pole and every year now, yes, the ice retreats when the twenty four hour sunshine happens for six months in the summer, but then you just watch it comes right back in earnest in the winter when there’s no sunshine. So these cycles are very well understood.

There have been approximately forty glacial maximums during this places scene ice age, so the terminology is very rich, in other words, complicated, and there are many, many aspects of this, And what makes it difficult to explain to people is that they can’t see it for themselves. They can’t go to the arc that can count the polar bears. They

can’t go underwater in the coral reefs at least a very small percentage to I’ve been snarkling all my life, and i can tell you the coral reefs are in perfect health, especially in the warmer water of the world.

The Coral Triangle in Indonesia is the warmest ocean in the world and has by far the highest biodiversity of both corals and reef fish. Twenty five hundred species of fish, six hundred species of coral. There’s nothing else like it in the world, and it is the warmest ocean in the world. So if the oceans did get warmer and

we came out of this place to see in ice age, the corals would spread once again to where they were during the warmer periods of the Earth, which were much longer than these little ice ages that we’re having now.

There was one ice age that lasted one hundred million years. That was during when trees evolved back in and around you know, two hundred and fifty million years ago, and that that ended, and then there was a very long warm period.

Speaker 1 War. Who are all these people that are going around yelling fire.

Speaker 2 They are mostly people who are drawing from federal money and state money. Their university professors, largely people like Elon Musk, don’t need to do this kind of thing. They’re people who actually understand all the technology and the history of the Earth and stuff like that. But these are basically propagandists who are trying to scare people that the world

is going to come to an end. You see, carbon dioxide is the basis of all life. If there was no carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and in the oceans, there would be no life because that’s where carbon based life comes from is CO two and it’s at a very low point now compared to what it has been

during most of the three billion years of life on the planet. And that’s because most people don’t understand that fossil fuels, which are being demonized as some kind of threat to the planet, fossil fuels were all made with life.

The coal came from trees and other plants on the land, and the gas and the oil came from marine sentiments, building up millions and millions of years to the point where it drew down the CO two in the atmosphere till it was actually getting to the point where it was too low for life to prosper. And so we’re

doing a good thing by putting the CO two back into the atmosphere because it is the staff of life. There’s something, no question of that.

Speaker 1 So far as the before we sign off, tell us about your book. You got two books, Faith the Invisible Catastrophes and Threats of a Doom and the other book, Confessions of a Green Peace Dropout, Making a Sensible Environmentalist and making you a sensible environmentalist, And tell us about those books. John.

Speaker 2 The first book is the history of Greenpeace and I. In nineteen seventy one, I was just about finished with my PhD in ecology at the University of British Columbia and Canada, and I joined a small group in a church basement to plan a voyage against US hydrogen bomb testing in Alaska, and we went up there in a boat.

We actually went there to the site of the situation and got media coverage all over North America and President Nixon very shortly after that canceled the remaining hydrogen bomb tests. Then we took on French atmospheric nuclear testing in the South Pacific. We beat that toobe. That took two years to do that. And then we went on our most

famous voyage to save the Great whales from thirty thousand being slaughtered each year by Russian and Japanese whaling fleets. And we got in the front of the harpoon and brought the video back and that made that put green peace on the map. So we went through a lot of stages. We stopped the slaughter of two hundred and

fifty thousand nursing seal pups while their mothers were still nursing them.

Speaker 1 You do you do God’s work. Dctor Patrick Boy you do God’s work. But we’re at a time and I look forward to talking to you again, to catch up with you. Even more so doctor Patrick Moore, thank you for coming on and I will tell our audience buy your books.

Speaker 2 Thank you so much, Thank you very much, John. I look forward to talking to you again. And there’s so much to talk about in this subject that I could go on forever, but I know time doesn’t do that.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I’ll talk to you soon.

Speaker 2 Thank you, John,
