Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning with us today is Congressman Zachary Nunn and he was an Air Force veteran and now he’s a congressman from Iowa, a Congressional District number three and congressman. So many things going on today. On Friday, Congress did not pass the bill, and President Trump had a great successful trip to overseas and he’s on his way back,
and everybody says that it all down depends and I ran, tell us what you feel? What the heck is going on? Would I ran? And what’s going to be the final solution?
Yeah? Well, John, you know, I think, first of all, I just want to give a big shout to a number of my Republican colleagues who are doing the right thing and move in President Trump’s big, beautiful bill forward.
It does three incredible things for our country. It secures our southern border. It makes sure that we have energy independence so we’re not dependent on places like Russia, and that other people can’t get energy from aram. I’d rather they be buying it from production right here in the United States. And three, make sure that we extend and
expand our tax cut. And you know, this is a great opportunity for working class families to get a twenty two percent tax cut. It means more than a forty percent tax cut for main street businesses in hometowns like mine and yours right across the country. And it also means that the child’s tax deduction. And I’ve got, you know,
six kiddos, so I guess there is some personal interest in this, but two of them adopted here. We want to make sure families can reinvest it. This isn’t a billionaire tax cut. This is a working class, main street tax cut. And so we’ve been able to get two budget resolutions through the House with Republican support, sometimes even
bipartisan support. On the second one, I think Democrats are coming around to this. Republicans are coming around to this, and I’ll push back against those who are willing to stand in the way of President Trump because they want their fifteen minutes of fame on whatever news station they’re going to jump on. We need to be pragmatists here.
The first Trump term, it took nearly three years to get a tax built through. We’re one hundred days into a second Trump term, and we have the opportunity to deliver a bill to the American people out of the House by Memorial Day, signed a law by fourth of July if we can all stick together. So that’s part one,
Part two. To your point here, the President just went on an incredible tour to force to the Middle East where he really recognized and I’m a combat veteran who’s flown operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. This is not a president who’s running away, who’s scared the Taliban or terrorists.
He’s standing up to him. And that means being able to say that we have allies in the Middle East who we should have on board, the Gulf State, Saudi Arabia, all have the potential to be our partner here as we stand up to And let’s not forget it wasn’t just a year ago that Iran launched three hundred weapons
systems at Israel. But for the United States and Israel, as well as our British, French and other Arab partners, we were able to shoot ninety nine percent of those doubts. So the coalition led by America is the terrence that creates peace. And I think we’ve seen a president now in President Trump who gets to lead a charge. And John,
I want you to know I’m very proud to be able to lead the maximum pressure campaign in legislation against Iran. So we’re going to give the President all the tools he needs to bring Iran to the table to denuclearize, to not threaten Israel either with a nuclear weapon or with a hoothy missile strike, and make sure that they
are playing by fair rules of the road. And for the sake of the Persian people and for the folks in Iran, I hope that the Ayatola listens to what President Trump has offered, because he’s the mass for the art of the deal. But if you decide that you want to go against them, well then you’re going to
get the full wrapt of the United States government.
I understand the congressman that on Thursday or Friday, President Trump says, look, we don’t want to we don’t want to have war with Iran. So he has the two choices either to work out a deal, work out a but if there’s no deal, we will destroy those atomic whatever you call them, whatever the bases.
Yeah, that’s right. So John, here’s the reality. Right now. Iran has enough nearly enriched uranium to produce it’s estimated by some intelligence community members up to twelve nuclear warheads, and you only need one to unleash hell on the world, and we’re not going to allow Iron to do that.
We also know that Iran is the number one sponsor of state terrorism. It’s not only the incursion that they made with Hamas into Israel. They kidnapped US citizen something. President Trump made it priority on day one to get every American hostage release, and this month we’ve got the last of the Americans coming home. It is a record
success story, better than anything the Biden administration did, better than anything Carter did during his time, and the last time we had a hostage standoff with Iran. But it’s more than that. We also have to stop Hesblah in Lebanon, and they’re crossover with Syria. Something you noted this week that President Trump met with the new Syrian leader who
overthrew Bashar al Assade, the leader the dictator of Syria, and he said, you know what, Syria, you can come back into the world fold if you are a legitimate government, take care of your people and help us fight Hesbelah that’s attacking Israel. And finally we saw that this you know JV League terrorist group that calls itself the Hohosies
that’s been launching potshots at US carrier strike groups that may have acquired a hypersonic glide weapon and shot in Israel being even iron Dome. These are things that are concerning and that can only happen because Iran, working with Russia and China, is allowing these type of rebel groups to have first class weapons systems that are going to
end up getting somebody killed if the United States and our allies don’t hold Iran accountable today. So we’ve seen this play out before where Iran has sweet talk the Biden administration and the Obama administration before into doing nothing and getting a compensation for it. We’re not going to allow that to happen under the Trump administration or under
my watch in Congress, and so as a combat veteran, one of the things we went after first is how does Iran get funded, and that’s through evading oil sanctions. They get eighty billion dollars a year by selling oil to places like China. With the United States, we made i Ran rich again.
We made Iran rich again. Congressmen were at a time thank you for coming on this Sunday morning and Let’s catch up again real soon. Congressman Zachary Nunn from the great State of Iowa, Thank you, God, bless your brother
