Speaker 1 Sunday morning, three days away from the election. How is it going to affect the moon and Mars. Well, we’ll find out. We have with a Steve Kates, otherwise known as doctor Sky. He entertains us every Sunday morning, and well, doctor Sky, Steve. If if Trump gets elected, Steve, We’re gonna have Elon Musk, I have a lot to say

about space travel as if Harris gets elected. Who knows. Nobody knows. I guess you might not like Elon Musk much. I love.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I mean they slowed up his Starlink satellites. Yes, because I guess he endorsed Trump. Absolutely, tell us give us a Sunday morning, give us the big picture of what’s going on in the world, the Solar system, as Larry Tudler says, the Milky Way.

Speaker 2 Yes, give us a report. Well, John, good to be with you here in the studio and only sitting some four feet from you. Normally, I’m the diameter and distance of a moon out in Phoenix, which by the way, is twenty one hundred and fifty nine miles away. But John, as you mentioned before, the most important election in many

people’s minds, in history for America. But let’s talk a little bit about what’s going on above us in the heavens. Last week we reported that one of the Intel satellites, the Intel satellite known as thirty three E, just somehow exploded in space. And the mystery behind that still continues.

Nobody really knows for sure, but it’s not a good mark for what Boeing has been doing. Obviously they’re trying to look for a buyer to the Boeing Space program package that they put up into space, the star Liner.

But that’s interesting, John, isn’t amazing how something like that just who merrily just either explodes or destroyed. Well, we have fifty five pieces floating around in space.

Speaker 1 We had General takitt In who worked for Space Command correct and it says looks three things. Something went wrong with the satellite, which is not likely, but you know, it’s been up there for five years. Absolutely somebody shot it down with a laser, or it got hit by a debris or asteroid or media or whatever. But it’s

got to be one of those three. And the reason that Space Command exists is because it protects from It protects our satellites, our communication satellites and GPS satellites. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 If our enemies shot down our GPS satellites and communications satellites, well I guess you’re not gonna be able to use your iPhone absolutely right.

Speaker 2 Yet, John Space Force was formed backed by President Trump back in twenty nineteen, as many may not know. But what’s equally important about this, sadly to say, many people agree space is the next platform for warfare, and thank goodness we have a space force out there. But going back to that satellite and is no rules, there’s no

established rules that you’re one hundred percent right. There’s no highway speeds or anything like that, as if you’re trying to run the infrastructure or the Interstates in the lower Earth orbit. But here’s the problem. We have so much space junk that’s up there right now. And now think about this, Some five hundred trackable pieces are being tracked

from that so called explosion of that Boeing satellite. Intel’s that thirty three A. So we know that lower th orbit is becoming so crowded that there’s a phenomenon which I’ve talked about here on your program on Sunday morning called the Kessler effect. What the heck is that an aerospace engineer came up with this concepts and he’s right.

Two satellites that collide cause more satellites to collide, So then you have so many pieces of space debris that we have to do something about the cleaning or clus.

Speaker 1 We’ve talked about it. Yes, a sanitation trump for out of.

Speaker 2 Space, absolutely much overdue in the world of protecting our lower Earth orbit. But going back sadly to the story of space warfare, we see China building so many platforms now they allude to and they have confirmation that the Chinese actually have a mini spyplane up there. We also have one called the X thirty seven B. But Theirs

may also have a little probe or something that can come out of it. And who knows what the is that is that to attach to another satellite to destroy it. We don’t know, but we want to give people good positive information, but they open our minds on this Lower Earth orbit is a dangerous thing right now with dupri.

Speaker 1 If it was shot down, do you think there’s somebody shorted to stop.

Speaker 2 That’s a good point. You never know, John, But seriously, there’s another side to those too that’s a lot more nefarious. A lot of the space debris that comes in people think that nothing’s really ever come down from space that actually can harm people, not to alarm people, but when skylabrary entered the atmosphere in nineteen seventy nine, tonnage of

that spacecraft came down and crashed on Earth, as with many other spacecrafts. So the point is not to be repetitive. Low arth orbit needs to somehow have a highway that you mentioned, doesn’t have rules, doesn’t have regulations. And the problematic thing is look at the night sky from an astronomer person like myself, the line the night sky, John,

is just populated, maybe too many of these streaks going across the sky that if you’re imaging faint galaxies like giant telescopes, they’re being you know, photobombed by all these satellites. When does it end? I understand why we need them, But there’s other issues at hand.

Speaker 1 Well, Steve Kats tell me, is there anything else you want to tell you were three days away from the election. The world may change one way or another. What else is going on in the out of space. One of the big stories this week, John, is the fact that astronomers, when we think that the universe was created thirteen point

seven billion years ago. Now they’re looking at these large structures that are out in space, and some of the strange ones. How about this, there’s now a ring.

Speaker 2 Structure of galaxies out there that are about one point three billion light years in diameter and it’s six point nine billion light years away from the Earth. What does that matter to anybody listening on Sunday morning. Well maybe not immediately does it come to mind as importance. But we’re going to have to change the way we understand

how the universe was created, just by how these unique structures were formed. How could something form that quick after the Big Bang if indeed everything was just blown out into space. So the point is, the whole study of cosmology needs to be rewritten and it lies, John, in my humble opinion, in the world of quantum physics, the

stuff that’s deeper within the atom that really baffles everybody’s minds about that.

Speaker 1 That’s amazing. Now deep gun inside. Do you feel that Mars was occupied at one time?

Speaker 2 I don’t necessarily think by any inhabitants per se, but I think a long time ago, John, there was organic material on the surface of Mars. There probably were oceans. We know that why the oceans disappeared in the water solar radiation. Maybe the planet Mars was hit by some large asteroid object. That’s what many believe. But the real

mystery of that is underneath the surface of Mars. Many astrobiologists and space scientists are saying definitely this way to look for water on Mars is deep within the interior, and that we believe there’s many reservoirs and big geysers right under the surface. So exploration like Elon to get to Mars. Maybe he’ll be one of the first to

drill a hole and say, well, Eureka, there’s water.

Speaker 1 Steve Kates, otherwise known as Doctor Sky, thank you so much for Sunday Morning.

Speaker 2 Thank you John. It’s always a pleasure, and I tell people to go ahead and listen to us on our Doctor Sky experience where at WABC Radio dot com
