Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning before Christmas. What’s going on? Well, nothing good for New York. With us today is Ed Cox, the GOP chairman of New York State. And Ed, you called me this morning and gave me some bad news about New York State. Tell us what’s going.
On, Well, we’re getting a lump of coal for Christmas from the Census Bureau. But their twenty twenty four estimate for where population be of New York will be in twenty thirty, and the American Redistricting Process taking a project has just taken that and estimates that we will lose two congressional seats in the twenty thirty census. Now the
last year. The Brennan Center, which has also done an in depth analysis of where New York’s population going, they estimate we will lose three congressional seats in the twenty thirty s mint, while Florida picks up three and Texas will pick up four. Now that’s good news as far as presidential politics are concerned. It means Republicans will have
more electoral votes from Florida and Texas, which are announced safe Republican seats. But here in New York, we are going to continue to lose our power nationally by losing more congressional seats.
Now, how about the other northern states? Is Illinois in California? Are they losing seats?
Oh, California will be losing, Illinois will be losing. The northeastern states will all be losing between one or two congressional seats.
Now what effect Now when is the that’s effective? What’s election.
This would be, Well, it would probably be twenty two congressional elections because the census then has to be factored in with respect to what the reapporcement would be among states. And then so that normally happens in twenty in the one years. If you will census in twenty thirty, by the time that’s finished and process is twenty, it will
be twenty thirty one, and then it hits the twenty thirty two congressional elections.
Understood, and which year did they take this census in? Does the migrant people that came in did they affect that census?
They certainly do affect the census because then and they affect the number of congressional seats, because the congressional seats are just based on population as opposed to citizens, but only citizens vote, but the allocation of congressional seats is based on migrants. But apparently this estimate in twenty twenty four by the Census Bureau should take it into that. Look,
the reasons for this are clear. Job here in New York we have the highest taxes of the most burdensome regulations. We’ve killed the jobs, like we’ve killed the natural gas industry in New York while it’s thriving right next door in Pennsylvania.
The joke we tell them when we’re in the studio together is on the Pennsylvania side of the border, they’re driving Cadillacs, and on the and on the New York States side of the border, they’re driving fifty two Chevies.
Yeah, or as President Trump joking we put it, they’ve put their straws down into the dirt and are drawn out natural gas from New York and selling it in Pennsylvania. And actually an ellerg around the world. We don’t let pipelines cross New York State to bring good American natural gas to New England. And in the very cold days
of winter, and they’ve got cold days up there in Boston, well, guess what they used to be buying natural gas LNG from Russia or no longer obviously, but look, you know, Biden put limits on how much LLENNG we could export.
The at least Trump is going to be drill baby drill. We should be drill baby drill here in New York. But unfortunately Clomo decided with the opinion of and that’s the real jobs for New York, particularly for up state New York where most of the population has been been leaking from.
We’re going to talk about more about it on the five o’clock show on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. And let me tell you something. The previous administration tried to destroy our country. Thank you so much for calling in this Sunday morning, and we’ll talk again.
Real soon, my pleasure. John, look forward to it. Okay,
