Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday Morning. Well, everybody’s had had time to digest what happened in the Democratic primary with us A Sunday is one of my best friends, Curtis Sewall. I’ve been on his board of Gardian Angels for almost thirty years, maybe longer.
And Curtis for me, well, we fight the wars together. And Curtis Sunday Morning, you had time, You had a week to digest almost about what the heck is going on in our city. Are we gonna lose our city?
Well, it looks like we’re on the verge of that, John, but there is salvation. We have to go after the hips, the millennials and jen Z the same group that Donald Trump appealed to, the males, the younger males, who I believe were the margin of his incredible victory not only in the public vote, but in the seven battleground states.
And I have that ability to do that because right now Zorhan Mandani has a lock on them, and there’s not a lock on them. There are a lot of them who don’t want to go in his direction, but there’s a lot of peer pressure against them, and there’s a lot of peer pressure of our generation. Baby boomers
not to support Zorhan Mandani. So it’s really a battle for the millennials, who are the majority of the population now and the majority of the voters.
And what we’re worried about is, you know, New York traditionally has been the migrant and immigrant capital of the world. People here, My two grandfathers came in nineteen thirteen looking for the streets paved with gold, and they worked eighty hours a week and eventually they found some gold. What is this this character that the assemblyment that’s running what
I call him the z man. He only had five employees all his life. Eric Adams has called him the snake oil salesman. He’s trying to sell everything for nothing. What is europinion?
Well, there is no Jorhan Mandami. If Eric Adams had done a decent job, he would have been the Democratic elected mayor running for reelection. I would have run against him as a Republican. Probably nobody else would have been involved, and we may have had the same outcome like we had in twenty twenty one. But he created the atmosphere
so that somebody that nobody knew it was in one percent of the polls back in February could suddenly win a Democratic primary against an iconic figure like Andrew Coomo. That’s how that happened.
I was very, very surprised that during the primary evening, and I think the whole world was shocked. It was one hundred degrees that day. Do you think that had a big effect? Oh?
It did, because ultimately when you look at the vote totals of twenty twenty one and of twenty twenty five, the same number of people showed up. The early vote was incredible, but it was mostly younger Sandami supporters, older people like yourself me. We wait for election day. It was too hot. It was one hundred and two degrees
in the shade, and people were saying, I wish I could vote. They would have voted for Cuomo. And I think that’s why he’s still in the race, because he knows the mass majority of those Democrats would vote for him, would not vote for Eric Adams, would not vote for Curtis Leewa, and would not vote for Zoran Munda.
Well understood. Anything else you want to tell other people is what makes you different than Adams, the z Man and Cuomo.
What makes me different is that I’m a true New Yorker through through. I never lived in Port Lee or Westchester. I wasn’t in Uganda, as you know, John, I was born and raised in New York City. I’ve traveled the streets in every neighborhood. Everybody knows me, and I’m the only candidate who rides the subways and can identify with
the New Republicans who are the blue collar working class. So name recognition is there. Now. I’m raising the money. We’ve got a four month marathon and after Labor Day that’s when it really gets serious. And I’m not going anywhere.
You’ve heard the rumors, John, Oh, he’s got a job in the White House. He’ll be a deputy mayor Parrick Adams. As you know, that is not happening. I’m in it till November fourth.
Well, Curtis Leeba, thank you for coming on this Sunday morning, and I look forward to working with you a few more times before you possibly become there.
