Speaker 1 With us this morning is doctor Peter Milos and he usually we’ve nicknamed him Live Long and Prosper and he tells us how to live longer every Sunday morning. Well, doctor Peter, tell us what’s on your mind today.

Speaker 2 Well, today we’re going to talk about a very common topic that many of us have experienced during our lifetime, and that’s food poisoning. And especially now with travel, we have to be very careful because many times we have certain foods and bacterias that we regulate, and when you go to another country or another part of the country,

sometimes you have different foods, different water supply. So food poisoning happens when we consume foods or drink has a bad bacteria or viruses or even parasites. And you can get that from undercooked meat or poultry or seafood. And you also if you don’t store these foods in the proper temperature. And that’s why health departments are so important

to make sure that things are stored properly at the proper temperature. For example, a common outbreak that has often killed some Americans or hospitalized them as salmonella you get from undercooked poultry or eggs. You can get et coali from undercooked beef or unpasteurized milk. And also when you wash your fruits and vegetables very important because a lot

of times you eat fields when there’s no toilets. Guess what, a lot of the farm workers sometimes go to the bathroom in these fields and they contaminate some of the fruits and the vegetables, and it’s a reality. The other thing you have to watch out for, which we hear about in the paper once in a while, is the

bacterical ysteria and things that are not kept at proper temperature cheeses, deli meats, smoked seafood and also sliced meats that are left out too long. You can get something goes staff oorios. Another thing we hear about on cruise ships is neuro virus from the surface surfaces are contaminating the foods. And of course we know about kosher and

alal don’t eat supports because under cook fork the risk of toxoplasma is something that does still exist around the world, so it’s so important to make sure that things are cooked properly. A lot of these infections can some of them like basillas sterius you can get from bad rice can happen in thirty minutes. You can end up with

diarrhea of vomiting, and some of them can be up to thirty six hours later. The people have to be careful are infant, pregnant women, older adult cancer patients, people on immune therapy, and people with HIV. And what can kill you from dehydration. Actually, one of my professors and teachers was a surgeon that went down to Mexico and

got very sick and got severely dehydrated and ended up nine because you got an infection that spread through his kidneys. You got sepsis, and when you do hydrated, you get more blood cloths. So that’s why if you feel like you’ve gotten food poisoning and your heart rate starts going up, because when you’re losing fluids austle, immediately go to the

emergency room wherever you are and get IV fluids. And to help avoid these things, wash hands, clean your cutting boards, clean your utensils, and if they find out it’s some bacteria, they are antibiotics. To treat these things like E. Coli.

They give things like CIPO and also anti parasitics if it’s something like a parasite like someone recently who got diagnosed to one into India and call it something like that. And then to get your gut back into shows, then the doctor may prescribe a rough spectrum probiotic to get things back under control. So they’re important. If you have

left over food, et ceter, off throwing it out if there’s any signs of mold or bacterial growth on it, just put in the garbage. It’s not worth it. Another thing that people don’t do is check expiration dates. And we’re going to be hearing a lot more about food and the importance of avoiding foods with toxins, food additives,

food colorings, and hopefully as the country we’ll start eating healthier again. But this is just an important general topic. And sometimes when you’re traveling, it’s good to carry you know, those little electrolytes of fluid in a powder form and you can throw it in water to replace electrolytes because when you have diarrhea, you lose potassium and sodium. And

I always travel with some good old fashioned pepto bismal because the bismus also helps the diarrhea and helps to control certain infections. Could travelers diarrhea.

Speaker 1 So don’t We have to be extra careful when you have one hundred degree weather outside, and the fact is that food tends to go bad when it’s that hot.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Absolutely, that’s went back to the flourishers and go. That’s why refrigeration changed the world, because food was able to be spurred, and that’s why we had population growth and that saves millions of wives because people used to die routinely from these things. I know a couple who traveled with their six month old baby to India and

they caught ah some type of intestinal parasite, and the child actually died by the time they got into black One gave ivy because children are scipical because they don’t have a lot of fluid or value. That’s why you have to be very careful with kids. Not so you.

Speaker 1 Talk about India, I’ve known at least three people in the last two years. They got extremely sick on the foods in India.

Speaker 2 I mean, yeah, I’m sure. Listen, there’s a lot of great places and many people live in India. Not a problem, it’s just that if your gut is not used to that food. I love Indian food. I think Indian food is amazing and there’s some great Indian restaurants a world war.

But you go like to a street vendor and the meat is sitting out and now refrigerated, and then it’s undercooked. You’re at risk forgetting problems, you know. So it’s not just about India or Mexico or even you know, I know people got food poisoning in Greece too. It depends.

If it’s you know, a stand out in the middle of the street, you have to think twice about it. You’re better off going to a real place like Christids, a supermarket, like vegasinos, where you know, things that following health department rules, the temperatures and the refrigerators, the walk in sezers. You know, there’s rules of being fired, employees,

washing hands is you know, it’s better to be in that type of environment for your much lower risk for getting food poisoning. That’s why it’s not rampant and places like New York and other places where strict rules are being followed. But these are just summer tips. They’re hydrated and it’s extreme heat because it’s very dangerous, you don’t

realize it, or you get very dehydrated. Your blood gets thicker and more viscous. Than it costs more. That’s why people when they’re dehydrated can go into heat stroke and get more heart attacks and strokes.

Speaker 1 Well, yeah, you’ve got to watch done that. What else I talked to Secretary Kennedy and doctor Oz the other day and the foods that some of these companies are manufacturing them is we have a lot of problems.

Speaker 2 Yeah, well, when we find out that their engineer to be more addictive, just like when they found out on the internal memos of some of the cigarette companies that they were mixing the tobacco plants to make them more addictive.

You know, these are things just like the things we talked about recently. They’re finding out marijuana with a like a sixfold increased incident any heart attacks and people aged nineteen to fifty nine, that’s traumatic, four times more stroke, two times more hard failure. We’re learning things. And a study recently came out. I feel these young people putting

on tattoos, tattoos our foreign body. They found out when they looked at twelve thousand charts. But the people who get a bunch of tattoos, they are twenty percent more likely to get them. Trauma is a fall of cancer it makes sense because your body sees the die and the ink is a foreign body, then that your immune

system and your lymphatic system is fighting it, trying to get rid of it, because it’s trying to get rid of the foreign body. Die and these people are having more higher cancer rate to move. That’s just blowaway that you know. Now, with AI and the ability to scan through thousands, if not millions of starts like they did

with the cannabis studies, we’re learning a lot more about some of these things that are toxic. And it’s better to keep your body the way God delivered to us and try to stay healthy and keep listening to the WAVC for more important health ships to stay alive. Ling is long and prosper.

Speaker 1 Thank you so much. Cut, thanks, thank you.

Speaker 2 Okay, all right, yes, I’ll talk to you.
