Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning. Well, we’re getting everybody’s opinion on what the heck is going to happen in the maya’s race. That’s the big news. We’re going to go socialism. Well, one of the smartest guys in democratic democratic politics, I know it’s the former governor, I hate to say, former governor David Pattison. Well, governor, it’s your call. You have your
two cents ready, tell us what do you think?
Well, I think that this past Tuesday really informed all of us of the capacity of people to win campaigns if they can measure what the sentiment of the public is and like him or not like him, And I’m not sure that I do like him. Zoran Mandani was able to do that. He came up with a completely
different way to bring out the vote. He motivated a lot of young people. Young people don’t care anymore and they don’t vote. They cared this time. They voted in very high numbers. And also young people who have some money to spend spent money on him and helped him raise money. Now, I think that after all of that,
he still has not explained to us how we’re going to have a thirty dollar minimum wage. He still hasn’t explained to us how we’re going to ride the subways free. He still hasn’t explained to us. You know, all of these other policies that involving spending incredible amounts of money.
And I think that in a general election with far more people vote than in the primary, people are going to be looking for those answers, and if they don’t get them, he will not win, and that will open the door for the three other candidates, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who I’ve endorsed, Curtis Sliva, who will be running on
the on the Republican line, and former Mayor Eric Adams, who’s running on an independent line. So if that collapse occurs, now we’re thinking which one of those three is best prepared to become the mayor of the City of New York.
And I think I’ll wait until then to try to figure out which one that would be well governor.
Any possibility I mean that the Democratic Party, you have a lot of common sense Democrats. I mean, has there been any attempt to bring the party together?
Well, right now it’s hard because the campaign is overshadowing everything else. On the lower frequencies, I can tell you that I meet with former colleagues of mine who were in the legislature and even some of the new legislators who I met, you know more, during the time that I was governor, and there’s got to be a change
because this is a national problem. This isn’t just New York. San Francisco had this problem, Chicago had this problem. And what it is is that the left has really gained momentum and an opportunity in these venues and the result has been collapsed. Chicago is a ghost town now. San Francisco is way over budget and in debt, and it
seems like every time one of these socialists takes over, it defies what socialism really means, which is everybody gets a free share. Now everybody’s in debt, and we’re going to have to What we really need right now is a twenty twenty five version of Bill Clinton the way he was in nineteen ninety two. And the person’s even
have to be better than him, because there wasn’t a big socialist movement then, but someone who will speak truth to the public. For instance, what Bill Clinton did in nineteen ninety two is he basically said, and he said this in minority communities the pain argument doesn’t work anymore.
In other words, the fact that you are of a certain color or a certain nationality and you started off would not that much. It’s not going to impress anyone. They’re not going to bail you out. You’re gonna have to do it yourself. And he was able to choose a way to use that argument to win two elections,
and you know, and serve as president. We need that type of person and we’re gonna have to go find them.
Absolutely well. Governor David Patterson, thank you for your input, and we’ll talk to you again real soon.
You’ve been really great in this whole process. Keep talking and and keep speaking the truth.
