Automated transcript · uncorrectedSunday morning. What’s going on in America with this this morning? Is Speaker of Mike Johnson, well, the third in line to become a president of the United States, God forbid anything happened, mister speaker. Americans are really worried. You guys.
The House did a great job putting together a great, beautiful bill, but the Senate is opposed to it. Or four senators at least tell the American people on the Sunday morning, how we’re going to put this entire deal together by the fourth of July.
Yeah, thank you, my friend. Great to be with you as always. And fourth of July is a very important deadline and a lot of reasons for that. People say, why is the timeline so aggressive? Why did you why did you commit to do this in the House before Memorial Day. You know, when I first announced that in January,
I was mocked for it. They didn’t people didn’t think it was possible. But the reason we’re pushing it so aggressively is because we have to get this done for the American people. We have the entire America First Agenda wrapped into this legislation, historic spending cuts, historic tax reliefs.
I mean the largest investment in border security in a generation, we’ve got, returning to American energy dominance, I mean, restoring peace through strength on the world stage. I mean all these things. And the sooner we get this relief, not to mention this tremendous tax relief that we’re going to give everybody. The sooner we do that, the better because
they will feel the effects of it. It will be like jet fuel to the fuel to the US economy. So look, I would say this with regard to working to the Senate, We’ve been working hand in glove with our Senate partners over there throughout this entire process. The House has been working on putting together and passing the
Reconciliation Bill, the one big beautiful bill, for more than a year, and our House committees have met regularly with their Senate counterparts. I’ve met constantly with Senator John Thunne, the leader over there, and we’ve agreed on finishing this as quickly as possible. And so that’s why you’re going to see the big push here over the next few
weeks to get this done and get it to the President’s desk by Independenceday. It’ll be a great celebration understood.
I spoke to Santa Rexshotte, I spoke to a few other senators. What are the primary items that they’re concerned about.
Well, look, those are some of my great friends. They’re fellow fiscal hawks, fiscal conservatives as you and I are. We’re worried about the national debt. But there’s a very simple reason that we’ve done this bill the way we have. First, it’s important to recognize this will be the largest savings, the largest cuts the government in the history of mankind,
not just the US. No government has ever cut this much in a single piece of legislation. You’re talking about more than one point five trillion dollars. It’s, by a factor of two, the largest cut that Congress will have ever made. Now, is it enough? Now it’s not, of course, because we have thirty six trillion dollars in federal debt.
But it’s important to remember we did not get in that financial situation overnight. Took many decades to put us here, and it’s going to take more than a flip of a switch to turn it around. I’d liken this to UH to move in an aircraft carrier. Turn in an aircraft carrier. It’s a large vessel on the sea. It
doesn’t turn on a dime. You need like a mile of open ocean to do it. This is a dramatic turn, a dramatic shift back in the right direction, and it’s just the beginning. We’re going to have more of this in the Republican Congress under President Trump’s leadership to get us out of the debt mess that we’re in. But
this piece of legislation will will check all the boxes and deliver all those promises I mentioned earlier, but do it in a way that is fiscally responsible, that actually reduces the deficit. And that’s a really important thing for everybody to remember.
Absolutely. I’ve had I’ve had a lot of calls from doctors that they’re concerned that the patients, patients are walking around saying we’re gonna get hurt. Can you explain what the doctors are saying versus what reality is.
Yes, thank you for asking that question, because there’s so much misinformation out there. The Democrats began to run ads well before we had even drafted the legislation claiming is you know, breathlessly that we were going to slash medicaid for example. It’s totally untrue and we were able to get their ads taken down. They were purchasing billboards and
running TV ads in New York and California and other vulnerable Republican districts, and they were lying. So the lawyer sent cease and assists leatters and they had to pull the ads down because it wasn’t true. Now the legislation is out there and everybody can see it for themselves.
We are not cutting medicaid coverage. That’s not happening. It’s not in the bill, and the Democrats who say otherwise are not telling the truth. What we’re doing here is strengthening the program for American citizens who need and deserve it.
We’re cutting out fraud, waste, and abuse that’s hurt the very people that Medicaid is designed to help. Medicaid is not meant, for example, John for illegal immigrants. We got one point four million illegal immigrants even medicate. They’re not entitled to that. It’s for US citizens. It’s the vulnerable populations like young pregnant women and the elderly and the disabled.
You’ve got four point eight million Americans adults who are able bodied workers, young men for example, who have no dependents, who are on medicaid and not working. They’re gaming the system and that is not right because they’re draining resources for the people that really need it and desperately deserve it, and we’re paying into the system. That’s exactly right. It’s
not fair to anyone. And by the way, this is about a ninety percent issue on public polling. When you explain that you have, you know, young able boddy men with no dependents riding the wagon, everybody says, make them work.
They need to help pull the wagon, and that’s good for them. By the way, it’s good for them as individuals. We find dignity and purpose in our work. It’s also good for their surrounding community. And by the way, the work requirement is not some draconian imposition. Okay. All we’re saying is that for twenty hours a week, if you’re
in one of those categories, you should be either working or in a job training program or even volunteering in your community, do something meaningful to contribute. And I don’t think that as a dramatic request at all. And the vast majority of the American people agree with us on.
And for the doctors that have tears in their rise because some of their patients. There might be illegal patients, and that’s why illegal migrants or that are not paying into the system that are being denied.
Well, yes, and what will happen is you also have a small category, but one point two million estimated people who are ineligible to receive medicaid because they’re signed up in multiple states. You know they’re receiving benefits in cheating and gaming the system. We have to root that out because we’ve done to be better stewards of the poet resources.
I would just suggest to you that these doctors who are in tears over people losing health coverage have not yet read the legislation. They’re basing this emotional response off of falsehoods that are being spread around by Democrats. So everybody, take a deep breath, look at the legislation. I think you’re going to be You’re going to find you’re very
much in favor of what we’re doing here. If we do not clean the system up, if we do not eliminate for odd waste and abuse, these programs will become insolvent and they will not be there for the people again who desperately need and deserve it. And we’re doing the right thing here and I think when people recognize
that they’re going to be they’re very much in favor of these of these provisions.
Mister speaker, I heard numbers that people are taking off Social Security that were ineligible, that there was fraud, that millions of them. Do you remember how many millions were taking off Social Security? There were one hundred and twenty years old, thirty years old, et cetera.
Yeah, it’s staggering. You know. The Doge effort, Elon and the team right after they did the us AIAD review and they found all the atrocities spending there. You know, we were funding transgender operas in Peru for example, and all this nonsense. Then they turned their attention to Social Security, and the President listed a lot of this in his
joint address to Congress a couple months back, explaining that yes, there were many people supposedly above the age of one hundred and twenty, you know, still receiving SOBI security benefits. Obviously those checks were going to persons other than those named individuals. You had many people, you know, one for example, there was there was examples of one SOB security number
that was shared by dozens or even scores of individuals. So every time a check would go out under that number, it would go to all these people who were collecting it falsely, erroneously, all sorts of abuses in the system because the software didn’t catch it, and in some cases it was actual you know, criminal intent, I would argue.
So the DOJE effort has helped us to clean that up and to clean up the Social Security roles. It’s so important to do because remember I mentioned these programs would be insolvent. You know, social Security and Medicare, for example, are within about a nine year window of insolvency. So we have to clean these things up so that they
will be there for the people who need it. By the way, in the package, you know, the President promised on the campaign trail that we would reduce taxes, you know, no no taxes on tips in overtime, for example, on interest paid on car loans for autos that are made in the US. And we also wanted to give relief
to seniors who run fixed incomes. So in the bill, we have a new tax deduction four thousand dollars in tax relief for low and middle income seniors. And what that means at the end of the day is if a senior has total earnings of seventy five thousand dollars at less, they’ll end up paying zero on zero tax
on Social Security. So a lot of commitments made. I think all of this is going to be a big boost to the economy and it’s going to help the people that need it the most.
Mister speaker, the last question, the the presidency of the United States is under attack by federal judges from all over the country that are trying to run foreign policy, that are trying to things that they shouldn’t be involved in.
Who is going to solve the problem. Is it going to be Congress to restrict them to their district or at least their state, or is it going to be the Supreme Court? And I think that’s the most important question that I’m going to.
Ask you, critically important. You’re exactly right. You know, in my background, I used to be a constitutional law litigator and I would run into activist judges routinely. In my practice, we would routinely get them overturned because they overstepped their bounds.
But the problem has become really almost out of control. The activist judges are so active and it is such common thing now that it’s become a real threat to our system of justice itself, and so we’ve got to bring it under control. Is the right one? How will that be done? I think it probably is a combination
of some actions of Congress and the Supreme Court itself policing its own court system, and I think Chief Justice Roberts has some pretty settled ideas about that. In Congress, we’re doing our part. We passed the No Rogue Rulings Act several weeks back, and that would eliminate the ability of individual judges to issue nationwide injunctions, which have been
abused so much to stop whole policy initiatives of the duly elected president of the United States. That is not what our system supports and not what the founding fathers ever intended. It would take that power away from individual judges, and it would require a panel of judges to do that instead. That’s a big thing. We’ve passed it through
the House, but installed in the Senate because you’ve got to get at least seven Democrats to go along with our fifty three seat Republican majority to pass it into law. So what we’ve done is in the Reconciliation Package, we did a measure related to the budget. It’s kind of an interim solution, but it would require a bond. Not
to get too deep in the weeds. But if a plaintiff goes to a court, they venue shop, they find an actress judge to do their bidding, and they want to they want to issue a nationwide injunction to stop something that President Trump is doing. For example, before that injunction could be issued by the court, it would require
a bond to be placed by the plainiffs. Those bonds can be very expensive. I think it would be a big deterrent to these abuses. And it’s just an example that we will do everything we can to bring in under.
Control and now we’ll take politics out of it.
Maybe, well we hope. So, I mean, that’s that’s a central premise. Remember, Lady, justice is depicted with a blindfold, and the reason is justice is supposed to be blind. It’s supposed to be there’s supposed to be neutral umpires and not partisan activists. And we’ve got too many of those activists on the on the bench and it’s a
long term problem for us.
Speak to Mike Johnson, thank you for everything you do, and thank you for the congratulations on putting that budget together and look forward to speaking more often, and and and helping helping you save America. Anything we can do.
Thank you, my friend. Great Coalkie is always thanks for all you do. Thank you,
