Speaker 1 People are asking what the heck is going on in the Ukraine Russia. Well, we have with us today Edcox, who is son in law of President Nixon, and this has actually has been going on for a long time, and I’m relying on Ed Cox to give us his opinion.

Ed Cox, Uh, this has been actually going on between the Ukraine and Russia for such a long time. You’re you’re, you’ve been there under the President Nixon’s administration. Uh, you’ve been there. When you’ll Ronald Reagan administration, tell us what do you think is going on in.

Speaker 2 Zolenski’s head and Solinski’s head. Here’s the problem? And Ukraine is fully awareness the Ukrainian people and Selensky is aware of this. And my father in law said that this is u could happen with the fall of the wall Wall and the fall of communism in the Soviet Union, and my father in laws President Nixon’s concern was a

dictator with takeover Russia and as he said, become inspected with the ancient Russian disease of imperialism. Russia basically, whether in the Soviet Union or what just as Russia now, imperialism is what has periodically infected Russia, and clearly with Putin now that is what’s happening. He came in in the early two thousands. He took over from a week

Jelsen in two thousand and eight, after he consolidated power, he invaded the country of Georgia and the Caucuses. In twenty twelve, with the Arab Spring and all the turmoil, he went into Syria. The Russian troops or had been in Syria back in Masad Syrian government twenty fourteen, the first invasion Ukraine and now in twenty twenty two, the

full invasion Ukraine. His troops are in Africa, and the Wagoner group guys, this is Russian imperialism. And the question here now is can you have a peace while Russia still is under this, as my father said, the ancient Russian disease of imperialism. Are they going to keep pushing or are they so exhausted now that they’re going to

add and their economy has such problems double digit inflation and interest rates at twenty percent, that Russia is going to be cured of that disease. I don’t think so. I don’t think so. And that’s mean that there’s really never going to be a full settlement. At this point of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Speaker 1 I understand it, and that I think it would have never happened if Russia didn’t get anxious that President Biden was not looking at what was going on, and China took Afghanistan, so Russia says, well, I might as well take to Ukraine.

Speaker 2 Exactly. I mean that this was a big one for him. Ukraine was really a big one. Now President Trump had and he’s right, and he said it. While Obama gave clothes to the Ukrainian army, President Trump gave them anti tank weapons. So when the Russians invaded towards Kiev and they thought they would take over it easily in a

couple of days, the Ukrainians fought back with the weapons that had been given to them by Trump, and the Russians had to retreat. And then they continued to fight in eastern Ukraine to where it’s going on now and they but on the other hand, they are exhausted. For instance, they’ve been kicked out of Syria with this this ragtag

rebel army kicked out Assad’s government. The Russian troops were out too, But guess where they’re will guess where their military equipment went and went to Libya where they’re fighting a proxy fight in O Libya against the against the Turks.

So the Russians are still in it. I don’t think they’ve given up. They’re not exhausted yet and there’s going to connect.

Speaker 1 They took the equipment instead of using it, we are they’re using a Lebanon. Uh.

Speaker 2 No, they said to Lydya, Olivia, Libya, where yes to their proxies in Libya who are taken on the proxys of Turkey in Libya? Uh?

Speaker 1 Didn’t we think that that Turkey and and uh uh and Russia were buddy buddies.

Speaker 2 They never had been there ancient enemies.

Speaker 1 Ancient enemies. But was Turkey then using Russia to were they try to make a few deals if you’re using them, they did, just like China is an ancient enemy of Russia too. I mean, China wants to take back from Russia land that Russia took from.

Speaker 2 Them in the nineteenth century. And China has forgotten they are there, longtime enemies. But now they have reached a top between the two of them, because Ukraine is that important and the imperialistic impulses of Russia at this point they want Okay.

Speaker 1 I think you, Agcox, thank you so much for bringing us up to date, the American people up to date. You’ve been there with President Nixon, you’ve been there with President Reagan, and let’s hope things come down.

Speaker 2 Let’s hope they do for the sake of the world jobs.

Speaker 1 Thank you so much, and talk to you.
