Speaker 1 Sunday morning and every Sunday who brightens up our day? Well, we have Steve Kates, otherwise known as Doctor Sky, and I look up in the sky and if I see things, well it gets me a little excited. Well, Steve Kates, what’s new for today?

Speaker 2 Well, good morning, John, Happy Sunday to you, and the listeners will start off on this bird migration. We’ve been talking about it on my own program here on WABC, the Doctor Sky Experience. But an update for everybody who didn’t hear that, we’re hearing that about ten million birds are flying north over the southern States like Georgia. How

many people may wonder why are they doing that. It’s not really all that unusual because this navigation and bird migration. Obviously, when the weather warms in the northern latitudes, this seems to be a larger number of birds than normal. But it’s interesting because people out there who live in the southern part of the United States and maybe all along

the East Corridor, you may start to see these large groups of birds lying north and John, what’s so fascinating is can you imagine a bird may have in their eye and brain the ability to sense the Earth’s magnetic field, and let’s help that that magnetic field is not being disturbed by the growth of technology with cell phones and

other types of broadcast radiation out there. Kind of an interesting story, don’t you think that is?

Speaker 1 I mean, that’s a lot of birds. And now let me ask you, may they be confused because we’ve been talking about that the Earth’s magnetic field has been shifting a little bit. Yes, I don’t know how many degrees it’s shifted in the last fifty years, but I think it shifted where the runways on the airport’s changing the

numbers on it. Now, you’re absolutely right, John, Can can that be part of the problem?

Speaker 2 I would imagine so, John, because as we know, the pole, the geomagnetic pole of the Earth obviously continues. The magnetic pole is the one that’s actually doing the moving. So who knows. Maybe that’s something that people would, you know, want to dig deeper into. But here’s a little website for people out there. This early Sunday morning. Just go

to birdcast dot info and it shows you the live migration of birds all through the northern Hemisphere. I think that’s fascinating for people that want to follow this beautiful it’s bird cast dot info. And that’s an interesting website because right on there bird cast like CISC right, birdcast.

Speaker 3 Cast INFOFO NFO. Yes, sir, all right, that’s awesome because you can see this like a weather broadcast of a weather satellite. But John, so many other things to talk about here. Many people in.

Speaker 2 Astronomy have speculated that there’s this planet lurking out way out in the Solar System called Planet nine. And why would they be interested in this? Well, here’s the answer. Something is tugging all the objects that lie farther out than even where the little dwarf Pluto is. So astronomers are seeing that there’s something shepherding six big objects out

in space, way out in the Solar System, and that means that something out there, still not yet detected, may be lurking. And John, this is interesting. If indeed it’s a large, sizeable planet, its orbit is about ten thousand years around the Sun, and yet totally amazing and not proven by any means. Some astronomers speculate that it could

be a very tiny black hole. How about that lurking as close to our Solar system as something we’ve never seen before. Now that I think opens up our minds.

Speaker 1 Is that what you call it? Wow?

Speaker 2 I think you’re talking about a big wow with capital letters, because we don’t know something’s tugging on those objects out in the deep part of the Solar System, and very much John, it could be who knows, some strange object with mass and maybe even a very tiny promore judial black hole. We’ll have to see, John, as time goes on.

But some other interesting news that we can talk about. We talked a few months ago about a Russian satellite when the Defense Department was concerned and people in Congress were reporting that Russia may have an orbital nuclear weapon in some sort of a satellite. Well, the story goes now as an update, the Cosmos twenty five point fifty

three spacecraft is now, according to reliable space sources, some twelve hundred miles above the Earth, moving into a radiation belt. And simply John, this satellite seems to be almost potentially out of orbit. We don’t know what it is. Obviously, the space trackers, the Space Force, I’m sure I have a better handle on it. But God forbid, it was

that type of a device put into space, a big violation of all the space treaties that no nuclear weapons should be allowed to be stored in space in any way in orbit. So I find this to be fascinating and I’ll have to keep you posted on that too.

Any other mysteries, Well, we got this one. What the heck’s going on with this Russia probe called Cosmos four eighty two, And this is it. It was a spacecraft, John, that was actually going to go to the surface of Venus and the orbit of the rocket took it. It never made it to Venus. So here’s what’s happening. This

is a great mystery. And the mystery is this Cosmos four eighty two is scheduled to come back to the Earth and impact the Earth. Now it’s a small spacecraft, but its parachutes probably don’t work. So astronomers are saying, well, the mystery would be when and if this object would strike the Earth. John. It’s a pretty sizeable object, maybe

like the size of a small car. We’ll keep you posted because as around May tenth, the object would come through the atmosphere at you know, thousands of miles an hour, and it wouldn’t have a parachute. So what we sent out to space maybe in this case, sadly we’ll come back with no way to slow it down. How about

that we still don’t know the reason for it. One of those mysteries we think about.

Speaker 1 To pay well, Steve, also tell all our listeners that you’re going to be on twice a week on WABC radio dot com and seventy seven WABC. On your iPhones and androids. You’re going to be on at midnight to two am on Friday night or Saturday morning or Saturday night Sunday morning, from midnight to two am. Is that correct?

Speaker 2 Yes, absolutely, John, and a great privilege and honor to be able to do that on this particular radio station with you and all the other great hosts that make up this radio station. So again we talk about these mysteries.

We talk about what’s going on in the world of science, space, astronomy, aviation, weather, and maybe we dabble into a few stories about American exceptionalism. We have some great guests coming up and of course in future iterations and nice surprises that I’m sure will enlighten all of our listeners about the mysteries of what goes on.

Speaker 1 Steve Kates, this guy, Thank you so much. God bless you, God bless America. God bless the world, and let’s have some world peace for change.

Speaker 2 You bet, Thank you John, have a good Sunday.
